Bad customer service, unfriendly staff , nobody can speak English . A lot of miscommunication between one shift with other . The room didn’t have running hot water when we address the issue to the front desk they said is full house and the water comes from the basement. No refrigerator and either drinking water in the room . We have been placed by Avianca flying company without options and they highly recommended as a five star hotel . You can remove the other 4 stars . I know we got vouchers for food and service but food was disgusting… overall the worst experience we had as travelers in one of the most beautiful country so far . Shame for this hotel and their unpleasant staff . Get them trained properly…

Perfect place to stay in Bogota. Clean, sanitized daily, well maintained rooms, and property. Comfortable bedding, pillows. Greatest staff, patient, warm, genuine friendly. They know everyone by name, and take time to talk with anyone about anything. English speaking for those who do not know Spanish.

Bogota, Colombia186 contributions2 helpful votes
Maybe 7 or 8 years ago my company made a commercial agreement with GHL and this was always one of my favourite hotels in Bogotá for clients that need to return from a different city and have a nice place to stay in Bogotá near the airport before an early flight back to the USA. No point dragging them back to the city. They can stay in Salitre. GHL Capital has nice rooms, a good common area with bar and reception, unlike hotels nearer the airport it has some shops and restaurants nearby. I don't know what has happened to the place though, the management just doesn't have the competencies now. Just too much went wrong with my recent booking. Firstly, this is now an airport hotel with useless transfers. The transfers run to a schedule which doesn't really work out. I was told it is because they are not allowed to park at the airport but I decided to just go and meet the clients myself last night and there are other hotels' personnel there waiting for guests. It seems like GHL just cannot be bothered to offer this any more. The morning transfer schedule definitely didn't meet the needs of my clients so I booked a transfer with the hotel for 04h30. Their Wompi online credit card platform did not work so I had agreed to pay the hotel in cash when I dropped off the clients. I had been sent the name, phone number and license plates of the driver for the next day's transfer. All looked very convincing and professional. I parked the car, which incidentally is convenient and free if you are dropping off clients. When I went back the clients were talking to the receptionist. The receptionist could not find the booking. Unusual but it transpired the hotel had spelled the guest's name wrong when entering it into the system. When they found it, they then asked me to pay for it again, it had already been paid. I tried to check emails but could not get a signal in reception, the receptionist did check it and confirmed it actually had been paid already, when I checked later it was even non-refundable. So a non-refundable rate that needs to be paid on arrival? Thanks for checking but why can they not just get this right anyway as a hotel run by what I thought was a competent group. What about that transfer, well I wanted to pay for it, the receptionist said it's in the folio but with no details. She asked for the details, I said well it's a very complicated booking, it was near the airport but not at the airport. So I was being asked for information despite having had the detailed requirements confirmed already by the hotel. I did lose my cool a bit with the receptionist. If I am stood in front of a receptionist then that person right then is the person representing the hotel. Just because she doesn't have the information then telling me that is an excuse rather than a reason. I cannot suddenly magic up a better receptionist that actually cares that her guests are going to miss their flight the next day. I needed to get to the bottom of this to confirm to myself that the transfer was organised as requested. It was a private charter via the military entrance to the airport. I had sent exact details of where to go including a Google Maps link to the location. I paid the transfer and we decided as a compromise, I would call the driver to confirm at least he had the details. By now it was about 9pm. He didn't know anything about it, so although I had been sent his details, the driver had not been asked to do the transfer. Pathetic really, an airport hotel that is incapable of organising a transfer to the actual airport. The driver promised me he would check with the hotel and call me back in 5 minutes. Well that was 23 hours ago now and still nothing. In the end I had to walk to the Sheraton to find an actual driving working the night and paid him cash to pick up my clients in the morning. Oddly I think GHL also manages the Sheraton but clearly with better people. Had I not decided to accompany the clients to this hotel then it would have been an unmitigated disaster. They would not have been able to find their reservation, had they found it then they would have been asked to pay for it again, and then the next morning they would have been waiting in the lobby at 0430am for a transfer that I had been promised had been organised but existed nowhere, the clients would have missed their flight. The hotel could not have been more useless even if they tried, and believe me, I think they must have been trying to have even achieved such poor service. Just useless. My clients arrived in Bogotá at 6pm. It was nearly 11pm by the time I got home after fixing this mess.

I stood there two nights and wanted to leave after 2 hours of being there. The receptionists are mediocre, they seem tired like they just woke up and are reluctant to put the effort in assisting their guests. The waiters are not attentive, one female hostess was clinging on to a waiter laughing away while I waited for my coffee and juice, my food got cold as I watched this sharade. There is no shower gel, no coffee machine, no cups, no airconditioning unit or heating and this is suppose to be a 4.5 star hotel??? You feel clusterphobic inside as the windows are not made to open at all, looked like a prison. I complained to the manager and she got defensive. I would not stay here ever again, neither should you.
