Bogota, Colombia

A very elegant cross between a hotel and a hostel. Reception is first class with bilingual persons available constantly; more concierge then clerk. As I understand it "masaya" means "the next level" so I take it the Masaya Hostel is trying to set new standards for the hostelling business. They seem to be doing it with their breakfast which although...

The hostel is in a great location in Bogotá, in a beautiful colonial building. We had a really nice private room, with a lovely ensuite. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The only downside was that our room was off the main courtyard and near the bar, so was noisy from early in the morning to late at night. Not the...

Good location, clean room and good complete breakfast. I stay for only one night with my husband, and it's was really quiet. We slept well in a double standard room (the bed was really big!). We also try the Masaya hostal in Santa Marta and its was also great. If you stay at another masaya in the same trip, you...

I stayed for a week in this hostel and despite slight mix ups with my reservation, it was an okay place to start my journey through Colombia. Staff was friendly, and generally good ameneties. The breakfast was for 8000pesos and it was quite filling, but more food options would have been good. The hostel offered walking tours which was really...

Masaya is a clean, friendly and super-comfortable hostal. We stayed as a family in a 4 bed dorm which was spacious and very clean. Excellent courtyards and the pool table was a hit. But the best thing about the hostal was after arriving at 7am from an overnight flight, they let us check in straight away!! This is absolutely gold...

Great hostal. The staff were very chill, and the atmosphere was nice. I think your stay will really depend on who else shows up. It seems like some nights people are ready to party all night, and other nights, everyone is in bed by 9pm. In my time there, both happened, but depending on your stay it could be hit...

We had a great time in Bogota at Masaya hostel. The hostel is located in the hip area of la candelaria. The staff are welcoming and the hostel offers lots of tips about tours and sights etc. Good breakfast and hot shower. The whole place is spotlessly clean too.

Probably my least favourite hotel/hostel I stayed in all of Colombia. It was way over priced for what it had to offer. Our room was right in the main hangout/bar/restaurant and it was EXTREMELY loud all night. Not quaint in any way. We had no natural light because the window was right where everyone was sitting. Smelt musky in the...
