Decorated in an over the top Middle Eastern style, the foyer, restaurant and rooms make an immediate visual impact. The staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast is adequate/average. The bathrooms need updating (could have been cleaned better). The hotel opens out into an ugly alley area but is conveniently only a 10 min walk to the old...

My son and I stayed here for three nights. We were absolutely bowled over by the friendly and helpful attitude of all the staff and especially Tha'er at Reception, who went out of his way not only to be friendly but also to help us: with a map and some instructions about getting around the sights, by booking hotels in...

We stayed here for seven nights in March 2011. Tarek and his staff made us feel like we were their only guests even though the hotel was full to bursting with guests from all over the globe. The rooms are quiet, comfortable and clean with lots of hot water in excellent bathrooms. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious with Turkish...

I stayed here for a visit to Damascus in June 2010. This hotel is truly excellent at a very reasonable price. Very nice and clean rooms. Excellent breakfast every day. Truly exceptional staff, especially Tariq on the front desk. Free wifi works well. Good location (quiet since it is tucked away from the main streets) only about 10 minutes away...

We chose this hotel on the basis of Trip Advisor reviews and we were not disappointed. Like many Damascus hotels, the decor is pretty amazing, but the stand-out was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff - particularly the reception staff Tha'ed and Mustafa. They always had a cheerful greeting for us, and plenty of time to discuss what we...

My girl friend and I visited Al-Medina in the middle of February as we went to Damascus for a week's holiday. We chose to go directly to Al-Medina because of the things we read here on Tripadvisor. And we weren't disappointed! The hotel is great. It's nice, clean and the location is excellent. Very close to Souq al-Hamidiya and the...

The City Hotel has the most ornate reception, restaurant, and rooms that I've seen. Apparently it took two and a half years for artisans to complete, and the end result is stunning. This hotel is very conveniently located. Within a short walk there are many inexpensive food shops,it is centrally located between several different banks with ATM facilities, and it...

the staff made our holiday a very memorable experience. we could not have asked for better service. the location is perfect for all Damascus sightseeing. we were very happy with our choice. the only problem was people leaving their doors open at night which caused them to beep incessantly. i would certainly reccommend this hotel, it's a true syrian experience...

The hotel is very comfortable, super clean, and has a great locale near the Archaeological Museum. You can walk to the Souk. A huge and delicious breakfast spread was included in the price. With everything working well and being pleasant - the staff took the cake. They were absolutely wonderful: helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, ready to accommodate. I hope to visit...

“The rooms differ largely. Some are larger than others and have different shapes. I stayed 4 times in the hotel and each time stayed in a different room. Non have nice views. The ones in the back are totally quite as they look at the wall of another building. While the ones looking at the main street can be noisy during the day. All rooms are beautifully decorated with good wi-fi connections. Sizes of the bathrooms differ as well. Some have bathtubs and others just showers.”
