Great hotel.Really close to Haram.Good breakfast.Clean neat.Lifts open at front of abraj complex and not at the back as for other hotels.
The suite had 2 bedrooms and a big lounge.2 bathrooms.Good breakfast. But room keys were problematic and had to be frequently recharged.
The reception was good and helpful. They would arrange Careem for us to go to Jarana.

There are many things to consider when getting a hotel in Makkah. Many value convenience and proximity as a top priority like I did. This is my second year that I stayed at Retaj and both times my experience has been very good. Most of the hotels in the Makkah Clock Tower offer luxury and convenience or proximity. There are few reasons why I like Retaj over other even more luxurious hotels:

1) There are approximately 7 hotels in the clock tower complex, on the bottom 7 floors are the mall and Hotels start afterwards. One of the nuisance is that you have to take escalators and elevators (shared with everyone) to 11th floor and from there you can take elevator to your particular hotel. Retaj is the only hotel that has Private elevator with security gaurds in the lobby of the mall right as you enter into the doors. You don't have to go through the rush and crowd of the mall. I mean, as soon as you enter the mall, Retaj beautiful elevators are the first thing you see. They also have private elevator by the side entrance of the mall by Bin Dawood. For someone like me who was traveling with diabetic patients and need quick access to bathroom and your hotel room, this is great. If it's a quick bathroom break you need then you can take elevator to the hotel lobby and use their fresh and clean bathroom and head back to Haram. Yes, you can use the bathroom of haram but some may not have the luxury of standing in line, specially if you have diabetes or prostate etc...

2) This is the second biggest value of Retaj is that all their rooms are suits that are townhouse style. When you enter, You have living room, dining room, and kitchen on main floor and all your beds are up a short flight of stairs. This is a great setup if you are with family or with a group so that if someone wakes up they can be downstairs without disturbing others. If you are traveling with elderly like I was then they will setup a bed for you on the main level so the elderly person doesn't have to take the flight of stairs to get to bed. The main level also has sofa, intercom system from haram so you can hear the voice of Azan. The other big benefit that other hotels don't have in their standard room is that all rooms have two bathrooms, which is a massive advantage.

Retaj's breakfast was also amazing which is included with your room rate. They also have fabulous see food dinner with massive choices of fish and sea food that they make to order. Dinner buffet are approx. 160 SR.

I stayed here for 8 nights from 22nd April in a quad duplex on the 6th floor. No view from the room but 2 very spaces rooms, 2 bathrooms with decent lounge and kitchen area. We we were 4 adults and 2 children the space provided was excellent for a little privacy. We were only 2 mins walk away from main mosque(haraam Sharif) and could very easily go and pray after hearing the azaan. Room was cleaned everyday and housekeeping staff were great with other requests too. Breakfast buffet was good but got a little repetitive, kids enjoyed the desserts. Would defiantly stay here again especially if with family and would recommend this hotel for a great stay. Thank you.

Booked a family suite for Umra trip in March 2015, the hotel was very spacious with each suite having two floors, two bathrooms. Located in the Zam zam towers it was very convnient for food, shops and access to Masjid al Haram. Staff were friendly and despite some confusion over my booking, allowed me to check in and said not to worry about as it can be sorted out later. Breakfast was excellent with varied food each morning. My only complain was that the room window was looking to a a massive hotel wall next door, hence there was zero sunlight and even in the middle of the day it was pitch black without lights. Hotel was generally clean and well maintained. Free WiFi.

This hotel is located in the clock tower. We stayed here after our hajj for 7 nights. It is perfectly located right in front of the Haram. This is a apart hotel where rooms have own lounge, kitchen and the bedrooms on upper levels. We stayed half board. The breakfast and dinner was nice. Plenty of varieties. The only problem we had was the key to the apartments. All in our group staying in different apartments had the same problem. One had try try many times before the electronic cards worked. We stayed on level 4 and from our room we could see people doing tawaf on the roof and the new temporary mataf. But if you have a choice opt for a higher level to get better views. This can sometimes be very handy as you can see how busy it is and therefore plan your tawaf when it is little quieter. Overall though very decent stay.

Feeling lucky stayed in this Hotel during our Umrah journey for 5 days. The hotel location in just one step to Masjidil Haram, down to ground floor, open the Mall's door - and the Holy Place is in front of our eyes. Got huge room with 2 floor, 4 beds, and 2 bathroom, everything felt perfect. Though the hotel looks a bit old, but we satisfied with the meals they served. Various buffet menus, and some Indonesian waiters is added value for this hotel.

we stayed for 5 days. the best thing about this hotel is the location especially if you visiting with old people then this is the best located hotel.the breakfast was nice, but if you are from india you might not like some of the stuff.the hotel was clean and staff was very friendly.there was some problem opening the room, the card did not work, had to try few times.there is spacious musalla on the 9th floor overlooking haram, which can be helpful for old people.overall it was a nice experience and a great value for money.

I came to Mecca to perform hajj and umrah. So I wasn't not looking for a 5 star hotel with swimming pool or 99 courses buffet breakfast or blah blah blah. I like this hotel because
1. It's nearest to Kaaba , you can go there even after hearing the azan. Just take a lift to go downstairs and you are in front of king Abdul Aziz gate.
2. Wifi is very good.
3. The room service is good, the cleaners are very helpful.
4. You can hear azan from your room.
I heard you can see Kaaba from some of the rooms, but I didn't have Kaaba view

There were seven of us, three adults and four kids coming for the weekend at the holy Makkah. We have tried other hotels like Hilton Suites, Hilton Towers, some cheaper hotels in Ajyad and wanted to try something different this time around.

Retaj somehow had a better rate on the day I booked the room compared to other hotels. So why not give it a try.

My unit is a duplex unit on the fourth floor which faces the Masjidil Haram (but no Kaaba view). I liked the layout of this unit. The lounge on the ground floor and the beds are on the mezzanine floor. The unit has two bathrooms which are very handy since there are seven of us.

Retaj faces the Masjidil Haram hence it is the nearest hotel to the Masjid. It is also the least crowded hotel compared to other hotels within the Clock Tower complex. This is evident before and after solah times, the crowd waiting for the lift is much smaller.

I would also say that Retaj's bellboys are the most efficient amongst all hotels that we've stayed in in Makkah.

The only downside is the quality and quantity of the breakfast offering. The number of dishes is relatively small and mainly consists of south east asian inspired food. I say inspired, not authentic.

Overall it is a good hotel to stay in and on some days, if you are lucky, the cheaper rates would make this a highly value for money accommodation.
