First of all geninue thanks to all staff at Elaf, including receptionists, cleanera etc. They are absolutely brilliant and professional and proactive, they were polite and helpful everytime I had to deal with them. They made efforts to accommodate us wherever they could. My flight was delayed and I requested late checkout, there was no if and but...they let us stay till 4pm and no one chased us and they didn't charge for late checkout. All this doesn't happen by luck unless hotel has a policy to treat the customers with utmost respect.

Hotel is impeccably clean, many many lifts available all the times and you don't end up chasing lifts. Very good continental breakfast, overall very nice ambiance too.

Access to haram is extremely convenient as they have round the clock full size aircon buses available. I had elderly mom with me in wheelchair, drivers have been considerate. Apart from Friday prayers I didn't encounter any issues and even on Friday chaos was resulted due to very impatient guests in the buses. Right outside hotel there is bus stand so don't expect this place to be quite although once in the room you don't hear anything which is great.

Room size was generous and clean, toilets were clean but could have been designed better. Daily room cleaning was in place which is rare in Mecca and Medina.

I came from UK and didn't expect much but I can say for sure my expectations were well surpassed.

Outside hotel you don't have many food options but that's nothing to do with hotel. Many grocery shops available in nearby.

Inshallah when I visit Mecca next time Elaf will be the first hotel to consider.

Check in was at 4pm, made us wait till 5:30pm, still not ready as room dirty, needed cleaning, very stingy with toilet paper and towels. Most things in the room are also falling apart, likes hinges and bathroom accessories. Other than that good hotel.

Though the hotel is 4 km away, the dedicated bus service made it easy to travel between the haram and hotel.
The room service staff were good and very considerate.
Loved the prayer hall, it was large and very peaceful to be there.
Only thing (which is an issue with all hotel), if you are returning after a tiring day to hotel, do check your room key before going to the room. You might have to program it again to open your room.

Negatives,
- You can hear the next room sounds loud and clear. Makes it difficult to rest.

Hotel is overall ok especially in comparison with prices of hotels near to haram based on cleanliness of rooms and their 24 hour shuttle service to haram on a specific tunnel route dedicated for shuttle service.

Therefore due to above point Comprises are acceptable to us for no proactive housekeeping, little awkward behavior at Reception, room service is practically non existent, and unfamiliar items at breakfast.

Food delivery by hunger station app is their to resolve the issue of no major food outlet available around the hotel

The biggest, unacceptable and almost disastrous downside we felt on our way back to hotel after Friday prayers in haram. It was complete and life threatening chaos at bus stand near haram. A complete failure of both authorities and hotel management. In my view They should intervene and find way to manage this as an emergency situation rather then waiting for a huge disastrous to happen to react.

Room Tip: Do not try to come back via shuttle service immediately after prayers at haram.

Reservations are not organized probably. Room was not maintained probably; i.e.;
- no telephone is working as the bedside telephone line was not connected
- and bathroom telephone handset was missing.
I could not communicate with the reception, housekeeping or room service because of that. Even when I called the reception from my mobile several times to ask for housekeeping I didn’t receive any answer.

I booked a 3 bed room. It was stuffed with 4 beds and really cramped. The phone wasn't working so I went down and complained. They never fixed it. Washroom was supposed to have bathtub but it was a tiny cramped washroom, no bathtub or enough space to even shower properly.

Cold breakfast buffet with extremely poor service. The tea bags in the room were so old that the tea tasted horrible.

Key cards kept malfunctioning and had to be reprogrammed. The guy at the reception had to test several key cards before he was able to find a functioning one.

I think the management is least interested in maintaining this big hotel and are just trying to milk as much money as they can from pilgrim groups based purely on their close proximity to Haram and the shuttle bus.

We were a family of 4 and the beds were too small. The 4 beds were packed in a small room, leaving almost negligible space to walk around.

Wifi was the worst and even in the reception area, the speed used to be less than 1 MBS, and that too, was inconsistent.

The drop-off location was far away from haram and required at least 10 minute walk to reach the Haram-covered area. The entrance to Mataf was a further 15-minute walk.

The phone was also not working. The bathroom was too small, and in bad shape but still operational.

Room Tip: Except for being a cheap hotel with a free shuttle, there's nothing good in it.

Had the opportunity to experience a short but pleasant stay in Elaf. The room was clean & spacious. The check-in experience was fast & friendly as well. We just had to experience one bed less in our room despite the hotel having previous knowledge of the number of guests but we did not raise this issue with the management as we were just there for a night & hardly had time to grab a night's sleep. There was an extra sleeping space though so we could manage. The hotel is very strategically located & they have a 24hr bus service from the front of the hotel to Haram which is just a 2-3 minute drive away through the direct tunnel. Would highly recommend the hotel & would definitely consider it myself for future stay.

This is a good economic option if you are treavelling solo or with small family. If you are travelling with elderly or with mobility needs people, you may consider other closer options to the Haram. The shuttle buses are convenient and run around the hour. You will be dropped at the farthest end of the Holy Mosque of Makkah, so be prepared to walk quite a bit to reach the mosque itself. The hotel itself is very good for a 4-stars category. Wifi service is unreliable and the breakfast buffet is not the best choice.
