this is a decent hotel. the room i had was on the 6th floor and it was one of the refurbished ones so was very nice and modern and clean. the bathroom is very small but clean. the shower had no cubicle so water went everywhere and we had to clean up can be very slippery. the hotel is only about 4min walk away. it is on a steep hill so for people with wheelchair is very difficult. they do provide a buggy to take you up and down the hill however only at prayers times and not 24 hours. a few of the reception do speak english which is very helpfull. we had to clean room our self on most days as no cleaners. had tea and cofee facility which was a bonus.workers are friendly. very busy hotel. at prayers times lift is very busy and you may have to wait a long time. 3 lifts and very small so can only take a handful of people up at a time.

Nawazi Ajyad is a good place to stay only if price and closeness to the Haram are your priority. The hotel is clean enough. Staff is helpful and rooms are comfortable enough. The main problem with the hotel is the elevator. There are three elevators in the hotel but they are certainly not enough in high season. I stayed in Nawazi during the last ten days of Ramadan and we had to stand in line to take the elevator, waited for more than 20 mns at times to get to my room. Another inconvenience is the uphill road that gets to the hotel. One needs to be really fit to be able to climb up that road, which is not well paved.
Apart from this, the hotel is very convenient to one of the main gates to the Haram, King Abdul Aziz, to the clock tower, and to the bus station.

We stayed at Hotel Nawazi Ajyad for 6 nights beginning 20 dec 2013 and again on the night of 2nd Jan 2014. And both occasions we really enjoyed our stay at the Nawazi. Considering that you pay less than 50$ for a double bed and with such close proximity to the Kabaa I would say this is your best bet if you are on a budget, while still enjoying star accommodation within 200 meters from the Haram on the Ajyad side.
The only drawback is a slight uphill climb of about 20 meters leading from the main road to the hotel. This could be little inconvenient to elderly or physically challenged people. Please make sure to tell your taxi driver the exact address and location to avoid being dropped off on the main road next to the le meridien makkah hotel. You will then have to carry the luggage right up to Nawazi. Although in our case, the hotel staff were friendly and helped us to carry our luggage.
Try and choose rooms on the higher floors which have Haram facing view. Their rooms are spacious and equipped with ac. The bathroom is slightly small but fitted with water geyser which ensures that you get hot water 24 hours. There is free wifi in the room. They also have a small convenient stores/cafeteria next to the lobby on the ground floor where most essentials are readily available.
You can leave the hotel 5 minutes before the call of each prayer and still able to get a place in the inner sanctum of Masjidil Al Haram during non peak season. There are lot of Indian and Pakistan restaurants nearby selling quality food at a reasonable price. And also cluster of salons in case if you need to shave your head after performing your Umrah. The saudi bus transport co SAPTCO is only a walking distance from the Haram. Cabs and shuttles are easily available for both Jeddah and Madina. Even shuttles and taxis are available round the clock for taking pilgrims to Meekat and back for Umrah. Fare is about 2-3 Riyals one way. You can book a private taxi for half a day ziarat tour of Thour mountains, Arafat, Jabal rahmat, muzdulifah, Mina , Jabal Noor , etc at appox 75-100 Riyals. Please bargain with the cabbies. You get saptco buses by the hour for madinah at 50 Riyals one way and 94 Riyals for return tickets. And VIP bus tickets cost 90 Riyals one way including a coke and a kudu sandwich. Child tickets are 50% discounted.
From Jeddah airport you will get cabs at 150 sar which will bring you to the hotel. On the way back you can bargain and get a cheaper deal.
I would strongly recommend this hotel to people who are looking for great value for money. Its a Great accommodation at a reasonable price.

I booked this hotel last minute with my family and it was the second of two we chose for our time in Makkah as everything else had sold out.

A possible problem for anyone who is not very fit, elderly or with young children is that there is a short but very steep uphill road to take in order to get to the hotel. However, this is just off of the main road of the Haram, the closest gate being the main King Abdul Aziz Gate.

The room we were shown to was on the 8th floor, it was a very large quadruple room, so even though there were 4 single beds, there was still enough room for armchairs and side tables. The décor was a little dated and not very well finished but was clean. There was also a small kitchenette type area with a sink, a kettle and cupboards. Tea bags, disposable cups and sugar were provided too which was a nice touch. The fridge however, didn't work.

The linen was clean (a plus considering we had just come from a hotel nearby that did not have clean linen!). The beds were a little hard but we slept fine. The duvets were new looking but didn't have any covers which seemed intentional.

The bathroom looked pretty up to date in décor but there was no shower curtain. As a result the water went everywhere. This wouldn't have been a huge problem if the water drained properly but it didn't. The drain in the middle of the floor was at a different level to the rest of the floor and so instead of the water slowly draining away, it would just turn into a giant puddle. Luckily we had our own slippers. We also then realised why we had a floor wiper standing in the corner of the room. We literally had to wipe the floor every time any of us used the bathroom. Not only was this annoying but also worrying as it was dangerous if one slipped.

The wi-fi was a bit temperamental and only worked in certain areas of the lobby.

I was also told that we paid over the normal rate per night because we had booked online. We had booked through booking.com and online it seemed like a very good rate but I guess you take what you can when you are planning everything last minute.

Overall it's not a bad place but would be good if management could take note of this review and sort the few things that I have pointed out above. Small changes could make a huge difference to the guests' experience and comfort.

Location of this hotel is not very perfect however, the Masjid of Haram is within less than 3 minutes of TAXI (5 Riyal). The Rooms and the beds are very clean and comfortable. The WIFI is very strong and the staff are friendly and helpful specially the nightly manager Ali and the afternoon Pakistani Manager.
I will share with the best way to reach this Hotel if you are coming from the Airport or Jeddah.
First tell the Taxi Driver to take you the Baabu Salaam Gate of the Haram @ Mecca which is very close to the Hotel. Baabu Salaam Gate. The Hotel is new and is located on an alley. So you need to take Local TAXI. Then take Haram Mecca TAXI from Baabu Salaam and tell them to go over the Jarbal Kubra (Bridge JARBAL) and then exit the first exit and then turn right to the first street under the Bridge and the Hotel will be on your right hand after 1 or 2 Block.

Assalamalekum friends....im not doing a full review of Hotel Nawazi Ajyad since i had already put my comments/experiences about this property a year ago in Jan 2014.

Alhamdulilah I was able to make my second visit to Masjidil Al Haram again this year and had an opportunity to meet the supervisor of Nawazi Ajyad Hotel.

Although we stayed at Le Meridien Towers but I thought of paying a visit to this hotel and find out if the property had further upgraded any of its services. To my pleasant surprise, I found that they have now introduced golf carts to help their guests overcome the short steep climb from the main road(from le meridien hotel) to the hotel gate. Pilgrims can now use this free shuttle service to/from the hotel to the main road leading to the Haram.

I'm sure with Nawazi's great advantage of being situated at such close proximity to the Kabaa, elderly pilgrims can now stay with them without having much trouble and use this shuttle service to their full benefit.

Jazak Allah khair.

Located close to Masjidil Haram. Value for money especially if you can't afford those hotels near the clock tower. Has to walk steep hill to get to Hotel. The room has all basic amenities. I have a view of the Clock from my room.
