I have never been to Saudi Arabia before and went to do the holy pilgrim. I originally booked just my flight and headed straight to the centre of Mecca. I went to most of the hotels close to the Kaaba and was not impressed with the opulence at all. In fact I sat waiting to speak to one of the receptionist as he was busy dealing with someone who booked online. He told them they had to pay extra for breakfast when she clearly was showing him on her smart phone that she already paid. I then went to the Hyatt Hotel but they were very busy and had no reservation. They were kind enough to allow me to use their wifi. I then found Novotel and this hotel is new and luxurious.
And a fraction of the price of the most rundown hotel in the centre of Mecca. There are shuttle buses that run 24/7 to the heart of Mecca. After mingling in the density that has always been Mecca you appreciate the comfort of Novotel with the backdrop of the Jabal Al-Nour, the mountains that Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) retreated to seeking safety and knowledge.

I would like to thank all the crew at Novotel for making my stay a relaxing and memorable one. May Allah bless each and every one of you 🤲💜

Excellent service

This hotel is 4 star and equipped with everything you need. You don't have to ask.

There is a shuttle service every hour 24 hours. Just make sure you are ready 15 min. before. If you need a taxi to the Haram it's going to cost 10~20 SAR depending on time and location you need to drop of
The area is also new. So ask for an upper room

Solo female staying at the hotel for umrah.
Its a nice new hotel with clean spacious rooms. (I booked a king).

The breakfast is awesome. So plentiful with omelettes and pancakes being made-to-order right infront of you.

The shuttle is on the hour, for the most part, but beware and take note of the schedule which will be posted in the main lobby cuz there are periods of times which the shuttle does not leave the hotel and does not leave from behind the Holy mosque, in which case you will have to get an uber or taxi. Uber is way cheaper than taxi. And honestly dont bother trying to get the shuttle back. They fill up quick and some people are jerks, where they will run to the shuttle ahead of you, even though you were there 30 mins before them.

The front desk staff, cleaners and bell-boys were super nice. Yes, sometimes the service is slow at the front desk but it takes a while to process things sometimes, its not their fault.

The only thing is, they didn't build the bathroom shower well. It backs up a bit and doesnt flow to the drain and it always looks like its gonna flow over the mini barrier. So i put a towel down to absorb leaking. Also a sewage smell comes out of the bathroom sometimes so you have to keep your bathroom door closed so your whole room doesnt smell like that. I dont know if thats a hotel issue or just a Mecca drainage and plumbing issue. Also the thermostat was hard to adjust and make sense of, so I would just turn it off at night.
The bed and pillows were comfy and from a high floor, I appreciated the view of the mountains and town behind the hotel.

No English tv channels. No smart tv. Wifi worked just fine.

There is also room service until 12am which is nice because at this time there are not any restaurants within a walk away.

I have to make mention of the manager and bellboys who did everything they could to help me when my phone would not turn on, even lending me their cell phones for me to try my sim in them.

Due to construction outside, I would recommend a high floor. And when you wanna use the phone, use the keypad on the phone handset itself not the one on the main device.

Good location, within walking distance of the Haram.Encountered the following problems in the room located on the 10th floor of tower 2:
Poor quality plumbing leading to extremely unpleasant odor coming from P-trap.
Shower water spillage due to poor shower tray cabin design.
Due to the Hajj rush, there was a major shortage of human resource, house keeping facilities failed to the clean room daily, large towels were unavailable.

(1)Transportation-whatever money you plan on saving here you will spend on Uber and Taxi. Otherwise you will be jeopardizing you own safety with an outsourced third party company with zero regards for safety and punctuality. Do not spend your stay waiting and running after an overcrowded bus where no one is happy
(2) Wifi- it is always "down" so please buy a sim card or get a data package.
(3) Front Desk. The reception is extremely under staffed. You always have to que for 10-15 min to talk to someone and no one picks up the phone.
(4) Location. You are in a construction site. with No nearby restaurant/laundry/supermarket that you can conveniently walk to. So Any money you plan to save will be spent on Transportation.

This was our first time booking this hotel. It’s a fairly new hotel and maybe quite nice once completed however at present there are many things that needed attention and made our stay not so comfortable. There are two buildings but only one has a reception service. We were allocated a room in building 1. This had no receptionist which meant if you needed anything you’d have to walk to the other building because nobody would answer any calls. water and general things in the room were not topped up and housekeeping seemed non existent. No porter either. The worst thing was the shower, which leaked and overflowed onto the carpet through the door, the water would not drain and we had to use the towels in the room to soak it up, we told reception and only a cleaner came who cleaned the water left the towels and that was it. We were offered another room but we’re leaving the next day so left it. The shuttle service exists but is busy, it also drops you really far from the haram so if you have elderly parents with you be careful. Ubers rarely come to the location as it’s new. Once complete this hotel has good potential but for now they really need to sort the showers out and provide basics like water in the room!

Extremely Unfriendly reception. Even the staff of a 1 star hotel are more cooperative & friendly. If you have a reservation here they‘ll make sure that you spend at least 4 hours calling all the agencies & the offices possible just to give them a confirmation that you have a paid reservation at their hotel!
the confirmation number you get via email & the customers name are not enough! Rare piece of art!

I stayed at Novotel Makkah for two nights and I had a wonderful experience. The hotel is modern and comfortable, with spacious rooms and high service standards. The breakfast buffet was delicious and varied, with many options to suit different tastes. The hotel also offers easy access to Al Masjid al Haram with shuttle buses available around the clock.
The best part of my stay was the friendly and helpful staff, especially the lady at the front desk who went above and beyond to assist me with my needs. She was very courteous, professional, and attentive, and made me feel welcome and valued. She also gave me some useful tips and recommendations for my visit to the holy sites.
I would definitely recommend Novotel Makkah to anyone looking for a quality and convenient accommodation in Mecca. I will come again for sure. Thank you Novotel Makkah for making my stay memorable and enjoyable.
