Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Basic and small room but clean with an en suite shower and toilet, TV, Aircon and a balcony. No food but loads of places very near including Machneh Yehuda. Close enough to hear the entertainment from Kikar Zion at the end of Ben Yehuda but good enough double glazing to almost completely block it out. Great value for money.

Hotel's Favourite
Marvelous boutique hotel in Jerusalem. We stayed for three days. Rooms are clean and bright, with a mini fridge which is always nice for keeping fresh food and water cold. There's also a kitchenette for making coffee, tea, toaster oven, stove. A total of sixteen rooms, each accessible by stairs (a note for those who have mobility issues). Can't say enough of good things about the hotel manager and owner Elly who was a sweetheart, professional, helpful and patient with all of our questions (and there were many). The location is barely a 12 minute walk to New Gate to Old Jerusalem and a 3 minute walk to the light train/tram.

A good stay in the heart of Jaffa street. The hotel owner was very accommodating when we arrived early and we were able to leave our luggage. He provided some helpful tips! A good spot with a balcony view.

This hotel is perfectly located - being only a 2 minute walk from the Jaffa Center station of the Red Line of the Jerusalem Light Rail while also being 10-15 walking minutes away from the Jaffa Gate of the Old City. It's also conveniently surrounded by a variety of restaurants and cafes in the immediate area. We would definitely stay again on our next Jerusalem trip.

This is a decent hotel, you get what you pay for. It is in an excellent location with everything on your doorstep, many cafes, restaurants, tram stop and it is only a 10-15 minute walk to the old city of Jerusalem. The owner is a nice guy, however.......there was one thing that put a black mark on our stay though, noise. I write this review (July 2022). For anyone thinking of making a booking with hotel kaplan it may be a good idea if you confirm with management if they will still be in the middle of hotel renovations. Disappointingly hotel management did not inform us of construction works ongoing in the hotel and we had our stay severely disrupted by noise, very loud hammer drilling and general construction work. Some of this work continued (loudly) late into the evenings, and you could normally hear hammer drilling around 8.30am, one evening at 7pm. On our last night we heard cleaning in the hallway outside our rooms around midnight. The hallways had constant noise, chatter, phonecalls, banging etc. For anyone who likes to go out all day and maybe come in for a nap before going out for dinner, no chance. I write this review so people will not get caught out like we did. Hotels in Jerusalem are not cheap and people deserve the honest the service they pay for.

Kaplan Hote is practically on Jaffa Street, just 1 0 minutes walk from Jaffa Gate. It is a small hotel, and you have to climb up on the steep stairs, the building is old but the room was newly renovated and spotlessly clean, with good wifi. It is perfect for a few days stay in Jerusalem, you can walk to the Old Town and you can take the tram (in front of the hotel) to go to Herzl Hill and Yad Vashem. In the small kitchen free coffee and tea all day long.

The Kaplan is a wonderful hotel. It’s simple, clean and perfectly located only 10mins walk to the old city. The front door is on a side street, just off the main shopping street so you need to keep an eye out for it. We stayed from Friday through to Saturday, so over Shabbat - peaceful and magical. The staff there were amazing - especially helpful is guiding us to places to eat on Shabbat ... and the security “joystick” (the dog) was the sweetest ever! Highly recommended.

3 days and nights with my wife. Near to Jaffa street, very close to the Western Wall - 20 minutes walk. Clean rooms! It’s really ok! Close to the main train station. From the station you can come here be foot (25 minutes) or by the light rali (5,9 sekel).

The hotel was clean and the owner so friendly and helpful. We missed our tour due to delays at the border and he helped us find another free one. The hotel is in a great central location within minutes of the old city. And no road noise. The hotel also had a great security system with the owners guard dog!
