I'm kind of stunned that it costs $95usd to stay here. Your room is literally a former nun's cell, with very small beds and a tiny shower. Amenities are minimal. Breakfast is okay. Location is stellar. I am not a fancy pants traveler, it's just that when I stay somewhere basic I expect it reflected in the price.

I stayed here with a few friends in April 2014. There were four of us, we took two triple rooms, both en suite. The rooms were fairly basic but of a decent standard. We weren't expecting much more than that as we knew the hotel was geared towards pilgrims. The beds were comfortable and clean and there was hot water... More

St. Thomas Home holds a special place in my heart. My wife and I stay at St. Thomas Home every time we are in Jerusalem, and we've always been delighted to return. With friendly, helpful staff and clean, efficient rooms, this pilgrim lodging welcomes all travellers. For those looking to stay within walking distance of the historic Old City of... More

Clean, well kept, and really convenient for the Damascus Gate. Staff ready to let you in at all hours of the night (I wouldn't push this - it's just the Israeli security finally let us out of the airport at 2am). Really enjoyed staying here - quiet and great value. Not a luxury place - but totally worth it for... More

I have to say up front that the reception staff were great. The hotel seemed to have a lot of religious since it was connected to/run by the Syrian Catholic Church. The room was simple and the bathroom was very small and awkward to move around in at times. But must add that it was advertised as having a restaurant... More

The guest house is run by the Syrian Catholic Church. The staff of the house was very friendly. The location is great, the Old City is just a short walk. The rooms are simple but clean. The breakfast was the same every morning but the selection was good enough in this price range. Highly recommended.

St. Thomas home is a Syrian Catholic guest house in East Jerusalem, just 5 minute walk from Damascus Gate and from two bus stations. As other people noticed, it is not very easy to find, but if you walk along Nablus road, pass the bus station and check on your left: after a restaurant, you will see a narrow road... More

I stayed in St Thomas's as part of a Christian pilgrimage group and had a wonderful time. Other reviews describe the problem of finding it (not least because the Google map I had was grossly inaccurate) but once you do so, you are in a very peaceful location just five minutes walk from the Damascus Gate. It is not meant... More

Wanting to make a short over-night visit to Jerusalem from Jordan we found and booked the St Thomas Home on-line the evening before crossing border at King Hussein Bridge. The cost of accommodation in and around the Old City is rather high, and at £75 ($120) for a twin room this was about the cheapest we found on the main... More

I have visited Jerusalem over a dozen times over the last few years. Usually it is for academic research or business, sometimes for family travel (I have three kids). This is always my first choice for a place to stay. The people are super friendly, you might be able to chat with the bishop at breakfast, it is quiet and... More

“If the view is important, the South-side top-floor rooms look down on the Old City. These rooms are also warmer in the winter, whereas the northside rooms are a bit cooler in the summer. Also, there are rooms available for 3 and 4 travellers. This works well for single-night stays.”
