The Berk Guesthouse is a comfortable and welcome home base, perfect for exploring the main historical sites of Istanbul. The rooms are comfortable (we loved the top floor attic room with it's own little balcony), the hosts are lovely, and the location could not be better. A five minute stroll brings you to the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, or...

Grandma's Guesthouse is a lovely small hotel just around the corner from the Aya Sophia. The location is excellent, the owners are very dedicated to their work and their house, a beautiful family owned house still pretty much in the traditional style which they opened up to welcome guests who like to stay in Sultanahmet. The location is excellent, the...

This hotel was very clean and neat. It felt very homey. Delicious Turkish breakfast was served in the morning by the gracious hostess. Minutes walk away from the Blue Mosque and Ayasophia. Berk Guest House is tough to beat! I would highly recommend it and will stay there myself again.

The Berk Guest House is more like a home than a hotel. Lovely room with a really nice balcony. The hotel is situated in a great location within a short walk from the hustle & bustle of the market and other attractions. Yesim so welcoming and we felt very comfortable. The hotel/hostel was clean and neat. The room was reasonably sized and served with free bottled water. Staff were very nice and helpful. We enjoyed our breakfast and had a nice conversation with the host. We specially enjoyed the spectacular panoramic view from the roof-top terrace of the building. The sea view was wonderful and the Blue Mosque and the...

We were so happy we chose to stay at Berk guest house. Tucked away on a quiet street in Sultanahmet opposite the Four Seasons the location was perfect. We could walk easily to all the major Istanbul attractions and we did. The roof terrace allowed for great views of both Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. The room was comfortable...

Berk Guesthouse is in an ideal location for visiting the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace and the Sultan Ahmet Gardens on foot. Easy to find, directly behind the extremely more expensive "Four Seasons Hotel" This is a true guesthouse, where we were treated like old friends, breakfast in the quaint garden room or a coffee on the...

That was my first time in Istanbul and the choice of Berk Guest House didn`t frustrate me at all! Really good location! You can investigate all popular touristic places just walking. When I wanted to go somewhere further, the staff of the hotel helped me, gave me all directions, maps and every advice was very helpful to me. The room...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
