The rooms are wonderful, location a bit remote. Great place to relax. Had fun just watching the boats go by. Perfect for 2 nights. Would not stay much longer if you are one to be on the go. Breakfast was delicious.

I am so glad we chose to stay at the Sumahan on the Water, as it is the most fabulous hotel. Unbelievably amazing setting that is right on the Bosphorus so you get an incredible view of the sea with all the boats passing by, and the Martyrs' Bridge which is really close. Being on the Asian side, you also... More

This is my first visit for over a year and I am pleased to see that things have only gotten better. The rooms have a view that few on Earth can boast. I love the the intimate cafe that gives a nearly personal view of the European side of the strait. The food is great, particularly the steak salad! I... More

Loved the views and that is what this hotel is all about. It is so beautiful watching the boats go by on the Bosphorus that it would be criminal to close the curtains at night! The restaurant has an excellent location on the waterfront and is very tranquil. The front desk staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating.

Sumahan is an elegant hotel by the water. You feel like you are living in a house on the water. Magical Istanbul view, cosy rooms with perfect view. Hotel restaurant Tapasuma is also best in the city. Would recommend for a romantic escape..

We went as 3 couples for my husband's birthday. The location and service was very good but the food was not that great. It was also quite empty. It could be much better as the ambience of the place is very good and romantic. I guess they seem to only serve the hotel guests.

Beautiful luxury property on one of the prettiest locations of Istanbul bosphorus. All rooms have incredible views. They are very authentically decorated with little hammams and some open to the garden on the waterfront. The restaurant and breakfast is excellent. Service could be more professional.

We stayed here two nights in July after returning from a trip to Uzbekistan. The waterfront hotel is quiet and comfortable and the staff are very kind and helpful. The views over the Bosphorus are stunning. There is a fireplace in the rooms for Winter and the in good weather you can swing the windows wide open to the night.... More

Not much to say; It is almost impossible to sleep closer to the bosphorus with 180 degree viewing angle. We at some point concerned about our privacy given how close the boats were passing. Absolutely stunning! Unfortunately, we did not have time to taste the restaurant but the staff was very professional and helpful during our stay.

Staying in Uskudar

Neighbourhood Profile
Uskudar
Home to more than half a million residents, Uskudar on the Asian side of the Bosphorus is one of Istanbul’s most densely populated neighbourhoods. Once a Greek colony, later a haven for people from across the Mediterranean and the Middle East, this gateway to Asia has been an active and diverse hub for eons. Still, visitors to Uskudar are often more overcome by its myriad treasures than by its many thousand residents. And with fairytale settings such as the “Maiden’s Tower” as well as grand examples of Ottoman Era architecture, plenty of parks, a gorgeous and lengthy coastline, and some of Turkey’s holiest sites, there’s no end to the sightseeing possibilities. Easily reached from the city’s European shores via a steady network of ferries, time spent in Uskudar reveals a “real life” Istanbul that many who experience find extremely fascinating.
