#11 of 2,259 hotels in Istanbul
Travellers' Choice
The special category hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Old-town, Istanbul. Idylle Hotel offers an exquisite stay in an elegant and stylish environment with excellent views over Istanbul. Most of the magnificent sites in Istanbul are located exactly in Sultanahmet – the “the Old City”. Here you will find the Blue Mosque, the Topkapi Palace, and the Hagia Sophia. Other historical landmarks are the Grand Bazaar, the Spice Market, and the unique Underground Cistern. The hotel is in an ancient townhouse which was tastefully new renovated in August 2018. It offers beautifully decorated 20 Standard Double Rooms, 4 Family Rooms, 4 Deluxe Rooms and 4 Standard Single Rooms. Street around the hotel is full of outdoor restaurants and colourful cafes as part of the neighbourhood. The public transportation tram stops just across the hotel.

The best family hotel in Istanbul. Also one of the best ever I have met in hotel industry his name is the marvelous Ugur at the front desk. He is very supportive, professional, polite, helpful and many more. He offers help with a great smile. Honestly he made my trip to Istanbul an amazing experience which I wont forget. The hotel location is great and near everything you need to see of historical places to restaurants. I encourage visitors to Istanbul to come and try Idylle Hotel. Thanks also to the amazing staff. See you all next year.

Hotel's Favourite
My 86-year-old mother and I stayed for 3 nights at the Idylle Hotel to celebrate and welcome the New Year. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The hotel was ideally located within few-minutes' walking distance from major tourist attractions such as the iconic Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and Topkaki Palace. The Gulhane Park and the Gulhane tram station of the Metro Istanbul were right across the hotel. The Grand Bazaar was a short 3-station tram ride away. Places of hammam and swirling dervish dance were also nearby. The hotel was surrounded with numerous local restaurants, grocery stores, coffee and tea shops, baklava and Turkish delight stores, street market and souvenir shops. Literally, everything was within reach. We had the deluxe room with a large balcony-like window overlooking the tram station, Gulhane Park and Alemdar Caddesi, and through which we were able to watch the fireworks during New Year's eve. The room was clean and had adequate size for movement for 2 adults. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the toilet/shower had hot water and complete toiletries, and the wifi was functioning well. Check in and check out were quick and efficient. We arrived very early in the morning (around 9:00 AM) and our room was already available, thus we were able to rest immediately after a very long flight from Manila. As for breakfast at the Mirage Lounge, the food spread offered both local and Western dishes. Relaxing views of the city and the Bosporus, plus the abundance of seagulls flying in the area, made our breakfast more enjoyable. What this hotel could really boast of was the amazing customer service that we got in our entire stay. Everybody was very welcoming, courteous and attentive, especially to my elderly mother. We would like to personally thank Ms. Serpil who was the housekeeping staff assigned at the second floor (our room floor). She was very kind, warm and sincere in giving her services to me and my mother. Despite the language barrier (she could barely speak English), she tried really hard to communicate with us while helping us in our room needs. The housekeeping lady at the fourth floor (we did not get her name) offered my mother a chair while we were waiting for the elevator, such a lovely gesture. Special thanks to the very jolly hotel porters Mr. Ferdi and Mr. Furkan for being always ready to help during our stay. Mr. Murat of the Mirage Lounge always served my mother (who he called "Mama") hot coffee and Turkish tea during breakfast with smile. And thanks, too, to Mr. Ugur, one of the receptionists, in accommodating our requests. He also offered us a New Year raffle in which we got a music box from the hotel's souvenir store Hope-On, and my mother loved it a lot. My mother and I highly recommend the Idylle Hotel for travelers to Istanbul, especially the first timers, either for business or leisure, family or solo.

Responded 29 Jan 2020
Dear fgmoria, Making your stay as glorious as possible is our priority. I will let our staff know how much you appreciate our services. Your politeness inspires us to get better each day. As Istanbul is very rich in culture and touristic places, our guests are impressed by the hotel's location. You are always able to go and see so many famous places whenever you want, in the easiest way and shortest time period. Unlike other hotels, we are very lucky that no matter how many days you are planning on staying in Istanbul, you may visit a lot of places in a day. We can't wait to have you here again and guide you to Istanbul's wonderful museums and historical artifacts! Best Regards, Idylle Hotel Desk

This is only the second negative review I’m writing, and this hotel deserves it to the moon and back. When I was booking with them, seeing all these amazing critics, I wouldn’t imagine what could possibly happen. We were given room 108. We arrived at midnight, and we saw that the room was too close to the street. I walked down to reception, and asked very politely the employee at shift to change our room if possible. He replied in a way that you could tell he just didn’t want-didn’t care to help, that “we are full”. But we hadn’t seen the big picture yet. At 6 am or sth like that, the tram begins it’s routes. And our room was right above the tram stop! We could hear every three minutes the tram arriving, leaving, tootling, sometimes even the “lady” anouncing the stops saying her “poem” . We could hear in detail the passengers waiting at the station, talking, laughing, whatever. Though our room was sure the closest to the station, perhaps only 4-5 metres away (taking on account not only the length distance but also the height distance) only divided by a single wall, most of this hotel’s rooms are on the same side as our room. So I don’t know how anybody on this side gets to sleep at all. It really is hard to sleep under these circumstances. I managed to sleep a little, my wife didn’t at all. In the morning, she didn’t even want to go up for breakfast, her nerves were so tensed. I reached out to the reception, were I found a very kind man in shift. He cared for us and attempted to help us. He supplied us with two options to change our room. He even let me have a look inside one of these rooms, whose clients had only a little while ago left, in order to see if it was meeting our needs. I decided that room 205 would be in place to accommodate us, since it was on the other side of the street. So I agreed with this kind man to move to this room. We left our luggage in 108, left for sightseeing, and agreed with this man in charge that the hotel’s staff would move our luggage to our “new” room, 205. We never made it to 205 though. After many hours, around 9 pm, we returned back to the hotel. The “we are full” guy was again in charge, like the night before. I assumed that shouldn’t be of a problem, since we fixed all problems in the morning. But no: (!) I walked to reach the counter, and said to him that we are at 205. He looked at me with a face of curiosity and tried to say sth so I immediately said that “we have arranged this with the hotel manager in the morning, we changed to 205”. He disagreed. He reached out to the phone, called somebody (I assume the kind man in charge in the morning shift) and talked to him in Turkish for a full 3 minutes. I wonder what there was to say for so long, considering what he told me afterwards. He told me that 205 was not available. It was full, and there was no way to be given to us. He said that the man in charge in the morning made a mistake. 205 was occupied. “But I got into this room myself, I saw it, I used the room card, the guests had only checked out, the room was empty”. “Yes, but there was a reservation, and he (the morning shift) made a mistake. It was his mistake but 205 is not available”. I don’t know if he was lying, whose fault was it, if there was a misunderstanding between the hotel’s stuff, whatever. Tragic first night, tragic second night. We left the hotel and started wandering around with my wife, with our luggage at hand, to find a new hotel to stay. We only payed for the first night, and to their credit they didn’t charge us for the rest of our booking (perhaps if it has not been the hysteric response of my wife when I explained her what happened, that this guy wouldn’t be so generous and would have insisted to the terms of the initial booking). Apart of all that, I have to say that 1) this hotel is in very good location, close to Agya Sofya, Blue Mosque, Sultan Hammam and in excellent walking distance of pretty much many interesting things. Tram station is also very close (loool) to the hotel, you can go anywhere. 2) Poor breakfast. But I assume this was not their fault at all since, from what I’ve heard, perhaps the most Istanbul hotels offer insufficient breakfast.

Concerning the hotel itself, most has been said in the other reviews. Special mention to the breakfast which is worth the kind of breakfast that can only be found in the best hotels. Where Idylle hotel really has been 'above and beyond is when I left the hotel for the airport while forgetting important stuff in my room. The hotel informed me via whatsapp while I was arriving at the airport. They send a taxi to bring me my stuff and I git it in time to jump into my plane. Idylle hotel didn't wait for that moment to provide an excellent service. It has clearly been a 'over the top' experience all along and I highly recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to visit Istanbul or have a nice place to stay in town. Special thanks to the hotel for helping me out when I forgot my stuff. You guys have been absolutely amazing and I won't forget it anytime soon!!!
