The hotel no doubt comes across as a hip and modern reprieve from the bustling city streets outside but that's where the positive aspects end. It is stinky, noisy, uncomfortable hotel with an incompetent staff. We were promised one price by a staff member and given an entirely new price, inflated price when it came time to check out. The...

The hotel is in a good location close to Taksim square and ideally located for siteseeing. I stayed in a more expensive room it was huge! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a standard turkish breakfast, but staff always asked whether I wanted more food or coffee.

The location of this hotel is excellent, just off Taksim Square and near many shopping and tourist sites. As other reviewers have mentioned, the check in area is a single desk in the corner of the lobby- a bit strange when you first arrive. The hotel is quite small and the hallways are tiny but this did not detract from...

I stayed at the Lush with 2 colleagues for 5 nights in November 2009. We decided to book it based on location, positive reviews and cost. We each did our research and booked the rooms of our choice. We really liked being able to see the rooms on the website. My colleagues each reserved a Deluxe room, 305 & 503....

Enter the hotel and it feels like leaving Istanbul and arriving at an arty boutique hotel in Berlin or New York. Modern, chic, friendly staff dressed in casual but elegant clothes. Giant photo murals of the city, antique style furniture, a fun eclectic mix. The hotel brochure includes pictures of all the rooms, none of which are the same. A...

I came away with the satisfaction that I'd made the right decision. Since we were travelling with parents, I had to ensure the hotel/ room was absolutely clean, comfortable and conveniently located. After exploring atleast a 100 hotels (and trust me I am not exaggerating...I have spent days planning this trip), I came across a NY Times review of Lush....

I can understand the mixed reviews of this hotel. It is indeed hip, but a bit ratty around the edges and with one of the smallest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. Our first night we stayed in a room with a connecting door and could hear everything the people next door were saying – this was tolerable early in the...

Basic purpose of a hotel is restful sleep. Fancy decor and others are definitely pluses. But if you can't sleep what's the use of a nice room - the atmosphere all of a sudden is replaced with frustratioin, exhaustion and anger. All their de luxe rooms (or so we were informed by the reception) is located next to the street...

This hotel is neither lush nor hip. I stayed three nights at the LUSH hotel in a so called “elegance room” (102). Check in was conducted in a messy room which served as reception (cluttered by boxes, magazines and generally unappealing). The room I was given was a mid size sparsely furnished room with wooden floors, washable paint walls and...

We, two 30 year old single women, stayed at Lush for 3 nights in July 2009. The staff was very accomodating and the room was very well appointed. I believe it was Rm. 301. Our room was great because it was in the back of the hotel, so we didn't get the street noise at night. Lush is very well...

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
