We stayed at the Marmara Guesthouse in Istanbul and were very satisfied overall with our stay. The location was perfect (just a hop and a skip from the main attractions). It was quiet and clean and all their staff were extremely helpful and courteous. A good value in Sultanahmet! David Radelet and Miriam Dominguez

Friendly staff, a quiet location mere blocks from many of the Old City sites, clean rooms, and we were served an excellent breakfast. The rooftop bar was a lovely treat. We highly recommend the property to value minded travelers.

My wife and I stayed at the guesthouse for a week in August. It was incredibly convenient to everything. Elif and family were wonderful hosts- so naturally friendly. They made all arrangements we asked them to, making reservations easy. Breakfast was great on the roof terrace. The only downside was that we probably should have requested a ground floor room,...

Very friendly staff, delicious breakfast with a lot of variation, view over the Golden Horn and clean and comfortable rooms. Located near the blue Mosque and Aya Sophia but at the same time on a tranquil street. Our bathroom was spacious and clean, but the room was a bit dark. The place to stay!

Marmara Guesthouse is run by the very professional and friendly Elif and her family. We were made to feel very welcome. Location is great- close to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia and other Sultanahmet attractions and also walking distance to the Grand Bazaar & Spice Bazaar. Our room was small but immaculate and breakfast was great. Marmara also arranged pick-up...

It is very close to main attractions, just few steps from main street where bars and restaurants are located but not that close to hear the noise as it is on a very quiet street what makes it great to rest peacefuly. Wifi is available all around the guesthouse. Breakfast is great and healthy and offers plenty of options.

This guest house is run by a lovely family. It is in a very good location with everything close by. But best of all the beautiful breakfast every morning is still the best we have had on our trip so far. Highly recommend for a great place to stay in the old city part of istanbul.

The efficiency with which this family run guesthouse approaches hospitality in Istanbul would give many of the larger and more expensive hotel chains a run for their money. Here you have the benefits of an intimate family home stay experience combined with all the little details you would expect from a much more expensive property. For guesthouse prices you get...

This is a wonderful place to stay in Istanbul. Close to all attractions it is located in a very quiet dead-end street. We had the family (3 beds) room on the uppermost floor and had a wonderful view into the courtyard and to the neighboring houses . The kitchen ,where the generous and lavish breakfast buffet was located every morning,...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
