I stayed here for a week and walked or caught the tram everywhere. Location, price, incl breakfast, helpful reception and airport shuttle were my requirements and I was totally satisfied. As a foreign visitor, if something was not to my liking I spoke to reception and staff responded. Be aware of local Restauranteurs touting for business and maybe even suggesting... More

Hotel was ok... Actually I was taken to this hotel because the one I had booked was full when I arrived there. I was then taken by the recepcionist of the first hotel to this one, which actually was better than the booked one.

Last weekend we were there with a group of 40 people. The rooms were very dirty and small. Dirty sheets, dirty bathrooms. The breakfast was not good. 15 members of our group became sick. We will never come back here again.

In 2010 & 2011 I stayed in it for one week at each, I love this hotel because a very kind and helpful staff, namely Mustafa.it's location near the old Ottman city and near the sea and it's arounded by a lot of resturant and market with few meters from the subway make it a good choice .

The hotel akcinar is very close to best historical site of instanbul. It is cheap, clean and the staff is kind and nice. The rooms are little but the hot water is always available. There is a good bus for ataturk airport. The breakfast is acceptable and in area is full of restaurant and shop.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

“in Turkey as well as many other DON'T EVER book a hotel room from the airport using one of those "agents"....more often than not a)you pay at least double, b)you pay for an "optional" taxi transfer (a lot more than necessary) and c)they only fill up their partner hotels, irrespective of which area you specified or type of hotel you asked for)......go online and even if you dont have a credit card, send the hotel an email and tell them when you arrive........and if you really like the place they've shown you.....got to an internet shop and go to an online booking service and get the MUCH discounted rate....”
