Based on the usual homework of finding somewhere in the right location within walking distance of famous historical sights and offering a decent breakfast, we landed here. What a great place! This has to go down as one of the friendliest places we've ever been to and the hotel was a perfect example of the warm hospitality we came to...

We stayed in this hotel in the end of January 2017. Megara Palace is a small but beautiful, friendly hotel with lots of character, in the heart of Sultanahmet, the historical old town of Istanbul. Clean, warm, with TV, minibar and amazing views. The breakfast is varied and ample, home made, delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful, so...

We stayed on the upper floor (no elevator, be prepared for stairs) with longer curving balcony and sea view - very nice, lots of fresh air. Attractive, rustic furnishings. Delightful breakfast room. Though in touristic area, on the edge so it didn't feel like it.

Very good hotel by Topkapi Palace. Rooms clean with en-suite bathroom, TV, A/C & fridge. Quiet location with good views of the palace wall & sea. Enjoyable buffet breakfast on the terrace with pleasant view. Friendly, helpful staff. There is no lift but it wasn't necessary. Free Wi-Fi available.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
