This is a smaller hotel located between the Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar on a very quiet dead-end street less than a block from the tram line. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and well furnished but plain. The lobby area is very nice with a full service bar. Breakfast service is on the rooftop garden area with a nice view... More

Welcoming, helpful and efficient reception staff created a favourable impression from the outset. Sultanhan Hotel is within easy walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern & Hippodrome. Excellent rooftop terrace restaurant with panoramic sea views where we ate dinner by candlelight and also enjoyed a very good breakfast. Comfortably furnished, spotlessly clean Ottoman... More

We spent two nights at this beautiful hotel with friends and had a wonderful time. This has to be one of the best hotels that I have stayed in. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very nice. We enjoyed the dinner on the roof terrace and ate there both nights. The breakfast buffet is also very good and... More

We spent 5 days in Sultanhan. It is a greatly located hotel if you want to experience the old town of Istanbul as it is in the heart of it. The hotel is cosy and small with quite nice rooms. It is situated in a very quiet street which is not so common in Istanbul. The rooms are nice and... More

We are glad to hear that you have satisfied with your stay at Sultanhan Hotel. We are sorry for the inconvenience that the driver has caused. We have changed the transfer company. Regarding your advise about carpet, we already have hall rugs in our floors but generally we have preffered to use high quality marble all around the building. We... More

Stayed for three nights. Super location - few minutes walk from Grand Bazaar, Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi. Right on tram line. Room was large, comfortable and spotless. Bath was good sized and modern. Service was remarkably good. Wifi and able to print out boarding passes. Excellent breakfast and rooftop dining with fabulous view. Great value. Would definitely stay... More

I stayed here for one night after traveling through Turkey. We stayed at the Ottoman Hotel Imperial during the first few days in Istanbul, which we loved for its charm and service (see my other review). We actually tried to stay at the Ottoman on our return, but sadly, it was booked. The staff recommended this hotel, as we wanted... More

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for about a week. I cannot say enough about how wonderful it was. The location is perfect - you can walk to the tram and to all the interesting sights in the old town. Dinner at a nice restaurant is at most a 5 minute walk. The hotel is absolutely beautiful! We... I recently stayed at the Sultanhan for 4 nights, and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They instantly made me feel at home. The hotel is in a great location, central to everything, such as the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, and the Cistern. Also, as noted in the previous review, the Cemberlitas tram stop is... More

We just stayed at the Sultanhan in Istanbul for 4 nights in May 2009. I had heard that many hotels in the Sultanahmet area were noisy. Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
