We visited this Hotel with Friends. It is situated in the old part of Istanbul and perfect for visiting the Blue Mosque, etc. The tram line is very close which can take you to most anywhere you want to go. The breakfast buffet is more than adequate. The staff are very friendly and helpful. As it wasout of season there...

The Sultanhan was exactly the hotel we were hoping to find to enjoy our last week in Turkey. It is ideally located, on a quiet side street but mere steps from the main city tram line and the bustle of the SultanAhmet neighbourhood. We had a large, well-equipped room, with windows that open (a blessing in the season between hot...

This is one excellent hotel. Great, quiet location, close to all of the popular antiquities and 50 yds to the tramway that gets you to almost anywhere you need to go in Istanbul. The rooms are absolutely first-class and the staff are ready to solve any problem or make excellent recommendations. The breakfast buffet is very well stocked and the...

My husband and I recently returned from a 3 night stay at this wonderful hotel. Terrific location on a quiet street (never was disturbed by any outside noise) but just off a main street with lots of restaurants. We had a lovely room on the 3rd floor, front (front facing rooms have a more pleasant view). The service was excellent...

Stayed for a long weekend. Found the hotel poor value for the 4 star price. On the upside, it is located in a quiet street and rooms at the back of the hotel are quiet. Short walk to metro stops and a lot of very touristy restaurants, close to all attractions. Breakfast (included) was generous and the rooftop setting is...

Well located right in the middle of the Old City, the Sultanhan Hotel was close to all the historic places on my "to tour" list. It is a midsize boutique hotel with European charm on a quiet dead end street. The price was extremely moderate. The staff was very accommodating and professional. My room was well-appointed and clean. Breakfast offerings...

The service from the front desk was fine and the bellhop was helpful. There was no concierege which was a big drawback. Our room was spacious but had a view of a building. The bathroom was large for Turkey standards but average in cleanliness. The location was perfect for the main tourist attractions in the old city. There was a...

My friend and I wanted a nice, mid-sized hotel right in the heart of the Old City in Istanbul and the Sultanhan fit the bill perfectly. Aside from the location, less than a block from the tram line (which is wonderful and which we used all the time to get around the city), the hotel offered peace and quiet on...

This is a smaller hotel located between the Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar on a very quiet dead-end street less than a block from the tram line. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and well furnished but plain. The lobby area is very nice with a full service bar. Breakfast service is on the rooftop garden area with a nice view...

Welcoming, helpful and efficient reception staff created a favourable impression from the outset. Sultanhan Hotel is within easy walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern & Hippodrome. Excellent rooftop terrace restaurant with panoramic sea views where we ate dinner by candlelight and also enjoyed a very good breakfast. Comfortably furnished, spotlessly clean Ottoman...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
