I've stayed at budget hotels in this neighbourhood before, and this place was much better than others I have stayed at. The room was clean and comfortable, the wifi and fridge worked, there was a decent TV, the owner was nice (and didn't engage in constant hard selling of excursions etc. He did convince me to take the airport shuttle,...

The owner is lovely and helpful. They were flexible with checkout times and allowed me to leave my bag there between stays. At €20 a room this was very good value. There are however, cheaper transport to and from the airport than they offer. The night managers English is not great, but he was super helpful when I needed it....

I enjoyed my stay. Staff were helpful and friendly. The room was fairly small and basic, but was fine for me as a solo traveller. Great location with a 5min walk to The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia etc. surrounded by many restaurants. Can recommend for those looking for an affordable, basic hotel in a great location with great staff

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
