Damp sheets, window that didnt close properly, mold in shower, no holder for shower head, lites that didn't work, no hot water and when the sink didn't drain, my wife went ballistic...we didn't stay the nite and when they saw the fire and rage in my wifes eyes, they refunded the down payment....Soo very happy we left

Though this place is fairly squalid, we were happy to stay there three nights as a last-minute choice. The staff was friendly and -- we thought-- completely upfront. Upon leaving, we reserved a room for two nights for our return in one week. Omar the desk clerk took our money (pre-payment in full) but upon our return somehow didn't have... More

I have stayed 3 times at this nice hotel. It is a family hotel with the best location in the area if Sultanahmet in Istanbul. Near to both Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. All rooms are now being refurbished with new bathroom and furniture. Also the terrace, with a beautiful view of the Marmarasee, shall be changed to a lovely... More

They treated me well giving me a small room on the 3rd floor with a great view of the Bosphorus. They are concerned about their image and asked me to write something nice in Trip Advisor. Obviously they have improved the breakfast as it was quite good, however, the coffee was instant. I drank the tea. Yogourt, fresh fruit, fresh... More

This is the most unpleasent hotel in the world. On arrival we we placed in a twin room (despite requesting a double). The walls were stained, there was used soap in the sink, wires hanging out of the shower, used glasses of water on the side and an uncleaned toilet! On complaining we were placed in another room which was... More

Hotel Askin could hardly be better positioned in respect of the main historic sites, and the view from the roof terrace is wonderful. However, we cannot find much else to recommend about this establishment. It is clear that little investment is being made in the upkeep of the building. Our room had various problems with electricals, plumbing and air conditioning.... More

I stayed for a night in a single room with ensuite bathroom on the second floor. Although the room/ bathroom was quite small, the room was well furnished and comfortable. The shower works really well. I paid EUR 45 including breakfast which is pretty good value. The ample breakfast is on the lovely terrace with sea and city view. There... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
