We were looking for a comfortable, small and quiet hotel in the old city of Istanbul, close to the main attractions. Hotel Daphne was recommanded in a well known German travel guide (Dumont richtig reisen, Istanbul) to correspond to these criteria. Hotel Daphne was a good choice. It's really quiet, although only ten minutes away from the famous Blue Mosque,...

Seven days at the Hotel Daphne was perfect. Renovated just a few years ago, everything is new, clean, and very nice. All the hotel staff were very helpful. The location is great for walking just about anywhere in Istanbul. The morning buffet breakfast, which is provided, was a really nice way to start off the day. The rates were very...

For the money this is a hard hotel to beat: centrally located, just a few minutes from the Hippodrome and Blue Mosque, a small hotel with a very friendly staff, quiet, great views of the Sea of Marmara, and in good weather, a rooftop restaurant. The rooms are charming and spotless. Our son and his wife stayed here a couple...

I used to live in Istanbul so know how awful the traffic can be. Even though I have lots of friends still living there I choose to stay in the Daphne Hotel because it is literally minutes away from the 'must see sights' and the Grand Bazaar (5,000 shops!!) The new tramway has transformed travel for everyone. Buy a Jeton...

family friendly hotel, minutes away from the main sites. we are a family of 4 and took two ajoining rooms which worked out perfectly. if you have a young family then this hotel is recommended as the sites are a few minutes walk away (mostly down hill). the hippodrome (large open area) is a couple of minutes away which is...

Close in, Great friendly service, Clean, within walking distance of important tourist's sites. Great Turkish breakfast one of the few places in Turkey to offer drip coffee. Suggested by family living in Turkey as a closely held locals secret. Now the secret is out. Family friendly as we were traveling with family of 5, all had great time. Take public...

Nice small, but clean rooms, some with a view on the Bosporus. Friendly and helpful staff. Location: 5 min. to Blue Mosque. Taxis barely find it (but they barely find anything, anyhow). Breakfast is ok (they also serve more than on the buffet, at additional charge). Hotel is highly recommended, if you prefer value and location over style and size.

Hotel Daphne is fantastic! My boyfriend and I ended up finding this hotel (we were looking at a hotel around the corner) after we checked out of our original hotel. The desk clerk gave us a fabulous room with a view of the Bosphorous. Our room was very elegant, clean and quiet. I have stayed in hotels all over the...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
