In March this year I travelled again to Istanbul to spend four spring days there. It wasn't difficult to search for hotel where to stay, Hotel Peninsula was the self-evident choice! After my last visit they restored the hotel beuatifully and stylishly, not forgetting Turkish atmosphere! My room and bathroom were spacious and very clean. The breakfast was delicious and...

Stayed in this hotel at the end of June 2008. Recommended by the Lonely Planet Guide. Can see why. Cheaply priced something of a bargain for a city hotel. Location good for being a tourist. Just off the main thoroughfare in Sultanahmed. Restaurants close. Rooms clean , neat although not too spacious. Compact bathroom. Hotel has quite a bit of...

I found the hotel actually by browsing in tripadvisor, and I decided to stay there because of the good review from the fellows who wrote the reviews here. I must say from the beginning that I had a doubt about the booking system since they do not have SSL for credit card, so I didn't want to give my CC...

If you're looking for a place that's centrally located in Sultanahmet, close to the sights and featuring Turkish charm and a personalized welcome, Hotel Peninsula can be your perfect home away from home. It's newly renovated, it's pretty and quaint, the rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated. The breakfast room is a charmer... and the traditional low breakfast tables are...

Located right by the Blue Mosque, Toakpi Palace and Aya Sofia. Staff are friendly but have a habit of quoting all prices in euro (when I was here they were supposed to be working with the new turkish lira), they also have a constant stream of conversations from their front door (which was above my room) mainly with the Handehan...

This hotel is in Sultanahmet, about 3 mins walk from Aya Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and the tram line. It's about 10 mins walk to Topkapi Palace, the archeological museum complex and the Grand Bazaar. Who could ask for a better location?! The single room I had was a bit small but it was clean and comfortable. I...

The Hotel Peninsula was the perfect place and a rare find! And we found it on Trip Advisor! The hotel arranged my pick up from the airport for a great rate and even allowed my friend who was arriving early (at 7:30 am) to check-in upon arrival. Although my flight was delayed 5 hours, the driver waited in the airport...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
