I have spent (together with my spouse) 5 days/nights in Hotel Peninsula. It was very cosy, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfest is tasteful and served on nice terrace with overview of Bosphorus - to see the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque, you have to move one level up. The room was tidy and cosy; it had...

We stayed at the Peninsula for 2 nights last week and really enjoyed it. The staff are very friendly, the breakfast is a traditional Turkish buffet with a beautiful view of the sea from the rooftop terrace (with hungry cat!), and the rooms are clean and tidy. We stayed in a ground floor room and even though we're two young...

The rooms are spacious, very clean, with separate bathroom, A/C and clean crisp linen. Lovely rooftop complete with hammocks and a view over the Sea of Marmara, the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofya. Whilst there is no bar at the hotel, there is no problem with buying your own drinks and food and taking them up there - the hotel...

I just returned from Istanbul (mid-May 2009) and had an overnight stay at the Peninsula. I took advantage of their airport pickup for 15 Euro (most hotels charge 25 Euro or it's free if you stay for atleast 3 nights), and their driver was right there to pick me up even though they had garbelled my name on the sign...

Firstly, thank you for your comments regarding our hotel. We would like to clarify some issues raised though, as we believe not all issues raised were balanced or informed. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Even got us an extra room on short notice for a really busy weekend. Gursel, who runs the breakfast, really makes the place tops on my list. He always takes time to chat and help with your Turkish words. I can't see ever staying anywhere else.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

We are nestled amount this city’s great historical landmarks and you will instantly transport your mind heart upon arrival. When you go to buy your morning paper, you stroll past our 489 year old Turkish Hamam, tangled with vines and moss.
