Amazing hotel. Fun local furnishings, genuinely kind and friendly service, breakfast with huge selection- including bottles of water and fruit to go--and AC in rooms. Some reviewers have said the rooms were too cramped or whatever, but come on, how much time are you going to spend in the hotel? The bed was so comfortable, the room so clean, that...

We spent 4 nights at the Premist at the beginning of August. We arrived early in the morning as we had just finished a cruise and were offered breakfast on arrival, given our room and an invaluable orientation to the area by a charming, gracious lady named Derya. The Pemist is located within a very short walking distance to the...

I spent three days in Istanbul as a tourist after 4 days at a conference. I selected this hotel on the basis of its location and the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor and Expedia and was not disappointed. It is in a brilliant position to explore the old city of Istanbul, being just minutes walk away from Topkapi Palace, the various...

We stayed here for 2 nights, in a standard double room. The conundrum with this hotel is which has more importance, style or practicality? The very large point of difference for this hotel is the Ottoman decor, which to my non-Turkish tastes was distinctive, charming in its own way, amusing, and well over the top in a positive way -...

My son and I stayed at the hotel for three nights. It sits literally in the shadows of Topkapi Palace and is just a short walk from the Hagi Sophia. The rooms are tiny but nicely furnished. The WiFi is fairly reliable and the staff accommodating.

From the pictures of this hotel that I saw when I was booking it, I expected it to be a little gaudy. The pictures absolutely DO NOT do this hotel justice. It's a beautiful, quaint, tucked away place which is literally steps away from Topkapi Palace. It has 2 beautiful courtyards where it's easy to wile away hours, forgetting that...

We have just stayed 5 nights in the Premist Hotel. The location was within easy walk of most of the main attractions or the trams. Our room with a balcony was fabulous and gave us private space to relax, view the masses, the scenery and the Bosphorus. The service from the hotel was exceptional, from an overview of the area,...

My wife and I stayed at theis hotel just for one night and it was great! Top location, right next to Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque (3 mins walk) and 15 mins to the Grand Bazar. What drew us to the Premist hotel were the photos of the lavish rooms, the bright colors, eccentric patterns, exuded opulence and the room and décor certainly delivered on what we had hoped, but the hotel exceeded our expectations in many other ways. Positives: - great location, super close to the main points of attraction in Old Istanbul (Sultanahmet area) - small, boutique hotel - very authentic, with an Ottoman "flair" - the reception and breakfast services were exceptional; one unexpected and very nice touch was when we woke up very early to fly to Cappadocia, the team prepared two sandwiches for us...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
