A few weeks ago we stayed in Hotel Serene for a long weekend. The staff was very helpfull and kind. They took our suitcase to the third floor and helped us with finding some places we wanted to visit. The room was more than fine. It was a nice and clean room. On Istiklal, the touristic street. Even I already...

The position of hotel is the best it could be - in the middle of Istiklal Street - overlooking Galata Square. My parents were travelling with me and staff was really helpfull to get them room on lower floor (no elevator) even upgraded one with no extra charge! We appreciated it a lot! The room was amazing - perfect view...

We loved the location, right off the incredible pedestrian thoroughfare, Istiklal Caddesi. Our room overlooked the street, which was fantastic for crowd watching, but made it not so very serene later in the night, as musical beats continued to thump on. It wasn't bad enough to make us lose sleep, but a lighter sleeper might have trouble. Other rooms might...

This hotel was in the perfect location in the centre of Takism and allowed you to explore all areas of Istanbul very easily. The hotel was quite difficult to find as we had booked via Expedia and the street name Tutuncu cikmazi was not on the confirmation so we walked around for about an hour and none of the locals...

clean room, convenient location be warned: it is very hard to find the hotel as it is located at the back alley off the main street. Asked numerous friendly turks before finally helped by a friend of a street vendor. another warning: most people are very friendly, but watch out the con men on the street!

I stayed in Istanbul for 6 nights and 7 days. For the first 3 nights, I chose Hotel Serene on Istiklal / Galatasaray which I believe is one of the busiest shopping areas in the downtown Istanbul on the European side as I planned to shop a lot in that area. The location is perfect for shoppers and tourists like...

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
