Strategically located in the heart of the old city. Away from noise and traffic, but very close to tramway stations and a big number of tourist hot spots. The nearby areas of Sultanahmet and Gulhane are beautiful. You can walk to a variety of restaurants, museums, bookshops, parks, and to the seaside as well. One day after we landed in...

The Tashkonak was a great part of our holiday. The atmosphere in this boutique hotel was wonderful. We were fortunate enough to have fantastic weather during our stay, and got to enjoy the rooftop terrace every morning for breakfast. The views were wonderful from the terrace and breakfast room. Even better was the location. We were just a few minutes...

We stayed there for 8 nights, the staff was very helpful and friendly. They'd guide you to places if you need. There's a grocery nextdoor where you can find basic fruits and veggies and stuff. Rooms were cleaned daily. nice building and quite place but our room was near the road so it was relatively noisy. The hotel has everything...

This hotel made our trip to Istanbul perfect. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. They made us feel totally welcome during our whole stay - including when we arrived at 4am! The free pick-up and drop-off to the airport provided by the hotel were very handy. The hotel is less than a 5-10min walk from the Blue Mosque...

Just returned from three wonderful days in Istanbul where we stayed in the Tashkonak hotel. The hotel is well located, in walking distance of all the famous must see attractions. Our room was spacious enough for a city visit. Most important it was clean, as was the entire hotel. The staff was friendly and understood what good hostmanship means. The...

We had a great week at the Tashkonak Hotel in Istanbul - the location is wonderful, just minutes walk away from the main historical sights. The best thing was the quality of the staff. They were helpful, attentive (but not pushy), sensitive and we felt well looked after. They knew a lot about the city, where to go, and how...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
