Our stay was perfect at Erguvan Hotel. I was torn between staying in the Old city or on the Modern European side, but i was very glad i chose the old city, and especially Erguvan. The hotel pick up from the airport and the taxi on our return was very easy to arrange and pick up / go. The location...

My friend and I arrived on a Tuesday afternoon and were greated by the manager himself and some of his coworkers. Everyone was very friendly and hospitable! They gave us some tips and showed us a map of Istanbul as well as told us about the hotel itself (wifi, breakfast etc.). The room was great, clean and big enough! Nice...

A friend and I (two young women) spent 4 days in Istanbul. The welcoming is very warm. The receptionists are very friendly, helpful and hospitable. It is a small cosy hotel with a lot flair and a familiar atmosphere. We felt like home. The breakfast was delicious. Every day there was a buffet with fresh fruit and vegetables (cold and...

Stayed in this hotel for five days and had an amazing experience interacting with the staff. They were very friendly and helpful in directing us around the city. In particular, Mr. Aziz always came forward to assist us with any questions and helped us find some of the best places to visit around the city. He also went further to...

Our rooms and the public areas were very well maintained, designed and decorated with taste (e.g. with ceramics, pictures, paintings), they also offered all amenities that we desired (e.g. tea & coffee set and a safe in every room). The breakfast buffet was generous with a large variety of tasty food, incl. a number of home-made cakes. We particularly enjoyed...

Nice, clean, nicely decorated with Turquish painting and pottery, home made cake at breakfast, very well located and good service. Very nice people. Only 5 minutes from the blue mosque, 10 from the Aya Sofia. There is a safe in the room to leave your passport during the visit.

Four of us were here for four days and found the hotel and rooms very clean and the staff very, very helpful and friendly. The hotel was also within walking distance of all the major city sites and only a short distance from the tram stop. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of going to Istanbul.

This is a lovely friendly hotel – locally owned and run, rather than part of a chain. Good location a few minutes walk from the tram stop in Sultanahmet. Clean, comfortable, friendly staff. Excellent breakfasts.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
