Very good location - just 2 minutes from taksim. The room was clean and large. I thought it will be very noisy, but it's ok if you close the window. Wi-fi in the room. Beds are comfortable. Stuff is helpful. Room size was very good for its price

Really noisy. Hair on the floor. Cleaning only available after four nights. The service did not exist. Also the payment of the room was wrong as the hotel charged more than the reservation stated since the room was paid with a card on the day of leaving and according to their own currency exchange rates.

The hotel is not in the greatest condition, however, we had decided to put up with it as we were there with family. However, our experience went from bad to worse. The promised "buffet" breakfast was nowhere to be seen, all that was on offer was some pre-packaged cheese and jam on a plate. The second night, we came back...

Spent 3 days in this hotel. The room and toilet were clean. It is in the heart of other hotels and hence very busy place with tourists around. Night life can be loud also as Turks love to party! Breakfast is their usual tea and bread with vegetable and bread toppings.

Hotel silviya have exceeded our expectations, the rooms were small but clean, facilities were good and the location was unbeatable! it was a few steps away from the lively Istiklal street, Galata tower is 5 mins away by foot, the tram is around the corner and the nearest metro station was like 200 meters away! all restaurants and most pubs...

There's nothing amazing about this hotel, except it has a great location in Beyoglu, just off the main drag whose name I can't spell - Iskiclar Caddesi (?), but it is pretty good value - 60 euros a night, I think - and is very clean, with good air conditioning, and a reasonable breakfast (not excellent but not terrible). The...

Nice little hotel in the heart of the Galata district just a block or so from the main street and with within walking distance to several sights, the old city and communications (such as the tünnel, tram and subway). Simple, but clean rooms. The front desk was always open from what I could tell and nice and helpful staff as...

I stayed in Hotel Sylvia from Aug 7th 2011 up to Sep 10, 2011. The location is very close to istiklal jaddasi, a 20 minute walk from Taksim, and just a few meters away from shishhane metro station. The rooms are so simple and clean. They have shower, TV (with satellite channels). The staff who can communicate in a lame...

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
