the Arena hotel was just fabulous. Very central to all the sights of Istanbul in the old town, less than 100metres from the Hippodrome & the main shopping streets. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants. The staff were very helpful- could not do enough for us. The rooms were clean & neatly fitted out. Would recommend this hotel to everyone!

My brother and I stayed here in March, for four nights. The hotel is comfortable and is ideally located, just a few minutes walk from Sultanhamet square. It is set in a quaint street - near an elegant Ottoman Mosque and with views of the Sea of Marmara around the corner. The above reasons alone would move me to recommend...

I stayed here 10 years ago on a few occasions, so when I was planning to return this year I didn't hesitate to return. I am so glad I did, it was just perfect. All the staff were lovely and helpful but especially Sinan, who took time to chat to us and offer advice when needed. Our laundry was done...

Motel location walkable to main tourist attractions. Motel has some age, but is in good shape, rooms are quite dark as lighting is sparse, A/C unit in our room was noisy & only blew air, I won't like to stay here in summer. Bathroom quite small, rooms only about 4m x 6m size, including dresser & bed, not much room...

From arrival the staff have been so friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem. Room clean and tidy. Small but to be expected. Walking distance to most things. Breakfast selection is very good and fresh. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a great stay.

Returning after 3 years found welcome and service unchanged and excellent. Room was clean with small but adequate bathroom, tea and coffee facilities and comfortable bed. Our room 307 overlooked the mosque which meant the muzzein called the faithful to prayer at 0500 but that is part of the charm of visiting Istanbul. Hotel is a short walk to Blue...

We booked the hotel as it was the place my girlfriend stayed 12 years ago with her family. On arrival we had a wonderful warm welcome from nejat and also from the owner of the hotel who showed me his family pictures and told me some history. Later on in our visit we met his sister who is the landlady...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
