As a Finnish Mother of two sons, I take each one of them to a trip abroad at least once a year to spend time together, but also to learn to appreciate different cultures. We choose hotels carefully trying to find a quality hotel that has local character. The Dersaadet hotel met our expectations very well, as it is very...

Really enjoyed our recent stay at the Dersaadet. Very friendly staff especially the waiters at the breakfast buffet/ rooftop terrace bar. Rooms had character in style and design and ours had a lovely view of the Sea of Marmara. Hotel includs wifi which pleased my husband but also has a computer to use in the lobby which I took advantage...

Yes it is a small hoter with small rooms (we got the conrner suite and that was worth the extra space). On the other hand the staff was wonderful and extremely helpful with anything you needed. The location can only be beaten by the Four Seasons. Thus you walk to attractions 1-3 (Blue mosque, Aghia Sophia, and Topkapi Palace/museum. It...

We stayed here for one week in February 2010. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a charming neighborhood & close to many restaurants. It's within easy walking distance from the tram and is very close to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and other historic attractions in that area of Istanbul. We ate breakfast on a...

Stayed for 10 days this August. Firstly, the location is excellent as the hotel is only about 500m away from Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome and Ayasophya, but also on a quiet side street so that we didn't have to suffer from the parade of diesel coaches full of visitors that treks up the hill every morning from 8am. Secondly, the...

This hotel is within easy walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Arasta Bazaar, AyaSofia and the Topkapi Palace. We were made very welcome by the staff and showed to our room on the third floor. En route we had a peek in to the Sultan's suite which was decorated in a sumptuous Ottoman fashion! Our room had everything we needed...

We only stayed one night at the Dersaadet, I wish we could have stayed longer. The staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean, spacious and furnished with elegant furniture. If you stay, have a drink at the roof top bar and enjoy the amazing sight of the Blue Mosque. It's so close, you could almost touch it.

This hotel has now jumped to one of my favourites, right at the top of the list. The staff were super helpful and always there when you needed them. Sometimes it was like they appeared by magic just as you wanted something. The roof top terrace is perfect for views out to the sea or over the rooftops to the...

Our stay at the Hotel Dersaadet in Istanbul was delightful. The rooms were pleasant and the roof top dining room for breakfast was enchanting. The staff was very helpful, giving us good directions to use the public transportation system, even supplying us with transportation tokens to get started. The hotel is located in a great spot to see the Blue...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
