The Dersaadet Hotel is an excellent hotel sitauted within walking distance of the major attractions in Sultanahmet (Old CIty). The hotel has an authentic Ottoman feel to it, the staff could not have been more helpful and all of our needs were catered for. The buffet breakfast is continental in style and served on the roof terrace which had lovely...

A great small hotel, walking distance to all the attractions in Sultanahmet. The staff were very friendly and helpful and provided a map, gave restaurant recommendations and helped with our coach booking to Izmir. There is also a free internet station available 24/7. Our ground floor room had a fantastic Turkish bath and shower room. Half the room was a...

This small hotel is large on service and value. From the moment we arrived we were warmly greeted and offered coffee on the rooftop terrace as our room wasn't quite ready. We had the corner suite which was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The shower/jacuzzi had the best water pressure we have ever experienced with plenty of hot water. The...

We stayed at the Dersaadet Hotel in October 2010 with some friends on our first trip to Turkey, and so were not absolutely sure what to expect, and where in the city we would be located. We were delighted by this hotel, the charm of the staff, the quiet location, the imaginative decor, and the proximity to all the main...

This is a first class hotel in every sense of the word. We appreciated the hotel’s location in the heart of the Sultanahmet district. The unique buildings and treasures of the old city were within easy walking distance. The hotel’s Ottoman style of building in wood has been faithfully captured, and the furniture, fittings, and decoration are equally authentic and...

As a Finnish Mother of two sons, I take each one of them to a trip abroad at least once a year to spend time together, but also to learn to appreciate different cultures. We choose hotels carefully trying to find a quality hotel that has local character. The Dersaadet hotel met our expectations very well, as it is very...

Really enjoyed our recent stay at the Dersaadet. Very friendly staff especially the waiters at the breakfast buffet/ rooftop terrace bar. Rooms had character in style and design and ours had a lovely view of the Sea of Marmara. Hotel includs wifi which pleased my husband but also has a computer to use in the lobby which I took advantage...

Yes it is a small hoter with small rooms (we got the conrner suite and that was worth the extra space). On the other hand the staff was wonderful and extremely helpful with anything you needed. The location can only be beaten by the Four Seasons. Thus you walk to attractions 1-3 (Blue mosque, Aghia Sophia, and Topkapi Palace/museum. It...

We stayed here for one week in February 2010. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a charming neighborhood & close to many restaurants. It's within easy walking distance from the tram and is very close to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and other historic attractions in that area of Istanbul. We ate breakfast on a...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
