We stayed here twice in Sept, at the beginning and end of our trip. The first time I paid an extra 35 Euros per night for a superior room with a sea view. This room ,202, was large and bright with 4 windows, 3 of which looked out over the river. However, the second time we were given room 203...

Four of us stayed at the HHK IN late September for 7 days. Incredible staff, responsive, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful. Hotel is fabulously historic. Only issue might be having to descend and ascend what we called GOAT HILL morning and night. Very very steep (read 10 percent) hill right outside hotel but KEEP IN MIND the views of NEW Istanbul The...

The third time for holidays in Istanbul and the third time back again in HHK. This means of course that we love this place and its people. HHK is not an anonymous palace, but a restored wooden Ottoman mansion with all modern comfort and a limited number of rooms, well kept and very clean. It definitely has a personality. It is...

very located near the historical district Sultanamet, near the metro Halic that goes straight to Taksim, near the tram in Eminonu which goes to all the sights (topkapi, blue mosque, aya Sofia) and also 5 mins walk from the Suleymani mosque. Getting there from the main street involves a walk up a small hill but nothing really hard. We walked...

After staying 3 days in the very touristy Sultanahmet, we decided to give the more gritty Fatih a try. We figured since we'd already seen the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the Cistern, moving to another neighborhood would give us more of a chance to explore. This hotel is about a 10 minutes walking to the Galata Bridge, which takes...

Excellent two week stay in this thoroughly charming , comfortable and quiet hotel with a magnificent view. It is perfectly located for historic sites, ferries, ease of access to metro and an oasis away from the busy streets. The staff are particularly welcoming, courteous and helpful! The most apt description of this great hotel is simply an oasis. Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
