Stayed 4 nights with my girlfriend (vi are 60+). -Near to Istiklal and Taksim. BUT, around the hotel there are discos, pubs, at the back side a parking place and many other strange establishments. Those are open untill 5-6 in the morning and have very high disco-music and always shouting-people on the sidewalk. Impossible to sleep without ear-plugs. Since the...

Honestly one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a 'hotel'. I used quotation marks because it's hard to call this a hotel the way I was treated. I booked this 'hotel' for 3 nights in Istanbul. The last night I went out and met up with an old friend and we went and smoked sheesha and took...

Took my mum for a surprise trip to Istanbul and found Jakaranda Hotel whilst searching reviews on TripAdvisor. Situated in an ideal location right next to the heart of Taksim but without being in the thick of things. Walking distance to all of the main areas you want to be whilst in Taksim. The hotel room itself was very clean...

We stayed at the Jakaranda for 3 nights and we loved the kindness of the staff and how accommodating they were. It is situated in a very busy part of town--between Taksim Square and the Galata Tower. The hotel is very peaceful inside, which is a nice change from the busy nightlife on the streets. It was a bit noisy...

We visited Istanbul and Jakaranda hotel in February 2014. It is very easy to find it from Sabina Gokcen airport: just take Havatas to Taxim Square, enter the main street and you can walk to it in minutes. Since it is on such a great location, near noisy and crowded Taxim square I was surprised how the room was so...

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
