Very clean rooms with aircondition, you have to share a bathroom with a second room but it is cleaned every day. And the rainsforest shower makes up for that disadvantage in my view. The breakfast was great as well. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful and really added a bonus to our experience. The location is great with lots...

Last year Mid September we visited Istanbul for the very first time! I planed a Mother-Daughter Trip to Turkey! I searched allot and found Portushouse on the Internet and was very curious, if the place is ok! On Telephone for reservation they were really friendly and uncomplicated! In reality it was almost perfect!! For the Price: Perfect location, Breakfast and...

Our flight arrived in Istanbul at 11:30 PM and we were to depart on a cruise the following day at noon. As it was such a short stay, I did NOT want to pay big bucks for a fancy hotel. Portus was terrific! My main concern booking such a small hotel was that we would have difficulty arriving so late...

Although the room was clean and comfortable, I will always remember Portus House for its service. Their staff is one of the best I have ever encountered in the hotel industry. They handled everything efficiently and went above and beyond at times. When there was trouble, the manager took care of everything for me. The breakfast was also pretty good....

We stayed in this hotel as a group of friends/couples for a reunion. Staff at the hotel were excellent, friendly and very helpful. The hotel was clean and provided an excellent breakfast every morning. Since it is located in an old renovated house, rooms are not very spacious, but that should not be a problem. Similarly we had a cheaper...

Portus house is a fantastic little venue. It's in a great location, with a small supermarket across the street and shops/cafés only a minutes walk away. The room was clean, neat and had an AMAZING air conditioner in it. Room service came through everyday, cleaned up our mess and left the room sparkling. As we left early each day and...

I've a room at Portus house without knowing much about it. It was a last-minute, almost random pick. All I can say is that I couldn't have been luckier. The staff was super-friendly, the guesthouse is very nicely decorated, the location is great and the price is very, very reasonable. I highly recommend everyone to have breakfast at the guesthouse....

Guest house with 10 rooms some with shared bathroom. Not hard to find, follow directions from their homepage. Located very close to cruise ports. Several very good restaurants in the neighborhood. Close to Galata Bridge. Our room number 0 was a large room with bathroom. Spotless clean and nicely decorated with a modern style. Very quiet and good air-condition. Breakfast...

The Portus House is a great little hotel in an up and coming area. The staff are friendly, very helpful and always have a smile on their face. At a first glance the front may be a little deceiving but the little air conditioned rooms are all you need!! The hotel itself is very clean. The true highlight how ever...

Portus house is wondeful! Istanbul is an amazing city & Portus House is in a great location, close to major city sites, yet in a more authentic, safe and quiet area that is not crowded with tourists. The room was nice and clean and well decorated and the shared bathrooms were not a problem at all. The staff at Portus...

Staying in Karakoy

Neighbourhood Profile
Karakoy
Sitting pretty with an age-old air about it, Karakoy is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus at the mouth of the Golden Horn. Perhaps the city’s most historically significant area, it’s currently one of the most happening parts of town as well. Here street vendors and alfresco fish restaurants line the banks of the Horn where the views of major attractions across the water rival Karakoy’s own key attractions, such as the iconic 14th century Galata Tower and the Museum of Modern Art. A major hub for local and international waterborne traffic, Istanbul’s commercial and maritime heritage remains as relevant and evident as ever in Karakoy. Commuter ferries mingle with luxury cruise liners at its busy port, ensuring a continuously cosmopolitan flow of people..
