We had a great time here. The hostel itself is a little worn around the edges but it's very clean - the bathroom, bedding and towels were immaculate. There is a rooftop bar with amazing views. The owner and the guys who work there are really friendly and helpful. The location is unbeatable - we thought it might be a...

I had an absolute blast while staying here. The staff are all absolute champs, they've got the coolest hostel dog, awesome bar with views over Hagia Sophia and cheap beer. Great atmosphere, really social environment. It is really one of the best hostels I've stayed at in a long time. It's perfectly located right in the heart of Sultanahmet, walking...

This is potentially the best hostel I have ever stayed in. As a solo female traveller the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and meet other single travellers. The rooms are clean and and secure. The staff assist with putting together a full itinerary for your stay in Istanbul. Great location.

The location is incredible, being about 5-10 minutes walk to the Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque. The Hostel owners are very friendly, providing advice on where to go and how to avoid local scams. The facilities are good, with plenty of clean toilets and showers. My room had a medium sized locker which comfortably fit my things and had...

I was greeted with a very warm by the staff at cheers hostel, who instantly made the hostel feel homely. They provided me with all the information I needed, and invited me for a few drinks that evening. Unfortunately due to my short stay at the hostel (A weekend trip from England), I was absolutely exhausted, so I didn't get...

My fiance and I started our 4-week trip in Istanbul, and this was the first (AND BEST) hostel we stayed in. We arrived really late (1 AM) and Tareq was there ready to greet us and show us to our rooms. I wanted a shower (lots of long plane flights and many beers from our layover in Munich later) and...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
