My dad and I stayed a night during a stopover in Istanbul. We found the Magnificent Hotel a very good option if you don't want to spend a lot of money and you want to visit the main sightseeings. It's a little hard to find this small hotel if you are not familiar with the area. The locals will have...

The Magnificent is ideally located in Sultanahmet. We had a room at the front which was small but comfortable and clean, if a bit noisy at night. The hotel is clean and well maintained with friendly helpful staff. The roof terrace is very nice and the breakfast very good. The only thing, and the reason we gave it an average...

this hotel is situated at the bottom of a perpetually busy street. there was never a day that the road was not packed with cars, lined up bumper to bumper. when it rained, the street was soaked, and there was no way to avoid the gushing of the waves (yes, that's what they were), since the hotel is at the...

My husband and I recently stayed at Magnificent Hotel for two nights. I was completely disappointed with our experience, especially after reading all of the other positive reviews. The front desk staff was not welcoming or friendly at all. We asked on several occasions for advise and directions and they could not help us. The room, although clean and nicely...

This is a family-owned hotel in the heart of the Sultanahmet district. It has recently been renovated and is hence very clean and modern. The breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace with beautiful views. The rooms aren't big but they are comfortable with all the necessary facilities. The service however is extraordinary. The hosts are very friendly and are...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
