Second time in Istanbul first time here. Brilliant. Staff were incredibly helpful. Location is fabulous, right on hippodrome a minute from the blue mosque and Hagia Sofia. The view from the rooms over the blue mosque is mind blowingly good. Breakfast is excellent. Can't rate this highly enough. Immediately told my family to book here when they come in 6...

The location is what distinguishes this hotel from others. It is conveniently located in the old city Sultanahmet, right in front of the Blue Mosque and a short walking distance from Aya Sofia, Basilica cistern, and Topkapi palace. A perfect location for visiting city's attractions. You will not need a taxi! Rooms are well maintained and beautifully decorated.

This small hotel is at the heart of Sultanahmet, just at the end of the boulevard. Its converted attic room, where we stayed, is a huge space with an almost 360-degree view of both Aya Sofya, the Blue Mosque and the Bosphorous, all at the same time - absolutely fantastic! Downstairs, the hotel offers a delicious breakfast on its outdoor...

Food was of mediun quality, and be aware that they count tip to the bill without telling (bill handwritten). Fish's price (defined daily) turned out not to be the same that was told. These gestures might be disappointing. Wine was good, waiters speak good English.

The location couldn't be better. It is right beside the Blue Mosque and about 2 min walk to Sultanahmet tram station. About half of the locations on my itinerary are within walking distance or short tram trips. The best benefit is being able to conveniently get home for a shower and use the toilet mid day. The service is very...

Hotel absolutely deserves given rating on tripadvisor: communication before arrival perfect; although central, hotel is quiet (except hearing the call for morning prayer at 5 A.M.; location could not be better - across Blue mosque, 5 minutes on foot to Hagia Sofia, short walk to Topkapi palace, 5 min to tram station; staff very friendly and helpful; breakfast nice; WI-Fi...

My daughter & I stayed at The Optimist Hotel in Istanbul & enjoyed outstanding service from the moment we stepped into this friendly, family-operated boutique hotel. We were given the most beautiful room on the top floor, complete with spa & with windows on 3 sides that overlooked the tree tops to see the amazing Blue Mosque right before our...

Had only a short stay here in Istanbul and wanted to stay close to main attractions such as Blue Mosque, Bosporus etc. We were give my the terrace room which was the top level room. The view is truly unbelievable. Above the treetops you have perfect view of the blue mosque, and so very close. The service and kindness of...

This centrally located hotel, just steps from the blue mosque and hagia Sofia. It was beautiful, quaint, and although it felt like I was on an exotic honeymoon, strangely the staff made me feel right at home. Mustafa, Mohammad, Gaya, and the rest of the staff were very attentive. They greeted us upon returning from our sight seeing with cay(Turkish tea)...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
