Where to start? Picked up by private transfer (€40 payable to hotel was way over the rates as we found out so don't book this as it is only 50TL for a taxi from the airport which is approx. €15) Arrived at hotel at approx. 1am to a very enthusiastic receptionist and concierge and we were offered tea and given...

Small room with view over alleyway. Bathroom tight but otherwise ok. Breakfast varied with pleasant staff serving. Lost count of the times our waffles were snaffled by others, they were good. Good point for sight seeing but don't be tempted to drive in city. Fab restaurant on top floor food alone makes it worthwhile then view to match. Be prepared...

We have not visited Turkey before and were staying in Istanbul for 4 days before flying on to India. A brilliant start to our holiday. We arrived late at night and were greeted well on arrival and offered a drink. Formalities over, we were shown our room which we loved. All the facilities we needed and a very comfortable bed....

I will be recommending this hotel to everyone i know who plans on visiting Istanbul. The service is close to if not of a 5 star standard. Friendly staff, especially Ms Serap at guest relation. She is good. Cosy room, comfortable bed, reasonable location. Room is small with damp odor for > USD 350 per nite. This is my first stay for three nights in Istanbul and would try other hotel as there are many good recommendation at Tripadvisor.

Sultania is most likely the best hotel you'll find in Sultanahmet, the number of positive reviews have a reason. The location is ideal, a minute walk to Gulhane tram stop and a few to the major attractions of the old city Agia Sofia, Top Kapi etc. Rooms are spotlessly clean and so is the whole hotel, breakfast is superb and...

I've just returned from a weekend in Istanbul staying at the Hotel Sultania. The hotel & room were lovely, with nice touches such as complimentary drinks, pastries & Turkish delight on arrival. All of the staff were lovely and extremely helpful. Helping with directions, tips on how to get around the city and arranging cabs. On arriving back at the...

We have just returned from a four night stay at this hotel. We were given an excellent welcome with a complementary drink on our arrival. All the staff were most helpful, the rooms are quite unlike the usual you get in most hotel chains, each having some unique features. An Iron and ironing board in the wardrobe was a useful feature. The breakfasts...

At arrival we were surprised with coffee or thea and cake, during the time we were registered as a guest. We had a room for three persons next to the elevator, so we thought this would give a lot of noise, but we didn't here it once. In the room there where a double and a single bed (real bed)...

I recently organized a small company meeting / retreat (25 ppl) at Hotel Sultania and its sister hotel next door, the Yasmak Sultan. Throughout the preliminary process (all done remotely, via email) the hotel was very kind, professional and accomodating of our constantly changing demands. Once we arrived, the setup and management of the group and meeting was impeccable, and...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
