We went on a trip to Istanbul from Bulgaria. We lived in a hotel Martinenz. The hotel has just spent the night. But the impression remained positive. Simple room, clean. Good location. Not far from the attractions. Breakfast is delicious and varied. Restaurant located on the rooftop. Istanbul wonderful city. It is worthwhile to come here longer.

Stayed at this delightful city hotel tucked away on a side street, close to tram stops and main roads. The room was well appointed and comfortable, not much of a view but I wasn't there for sight seeing. The staff at the Reception desk were more than happy to help and their duties even took them behind the Bar. I...

Simple and small hotel in a very very good location. About 5min walk to tram station. Breakfast is monotonous as it didn't change at all for 3days but has variety and is tasty. Dont miss the warm buns they serve with the eggs. Its yummy! They don't have dental kits and have very basic amenities but it's really all you...

Counter Reception staff are unfriendly. When my friend asked on how to get to the newly opened Hard Rock Cafe in Istanbul, their curt answer was "take a taxi"! Other than that our room air conditioner barely worked, the walls are quiet thin (If you speak in a loud voice your neighbor will be able to hear you), the wifi...

I was in this hotel in July 5:06. Everything was excellent and the city of Istanbul impressed me. Indeed there is a lot to see. I had gone Kapali cars, mosque, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and others. I was at the Egyptian Spice Bazaar and the vehicle itself is the Bosphorus. Also I was in the Sultan's palace, which I...

Went room only on a flying visit to Istanbul. This is a modern, clean, comfortable hotel in a central tourist area. The roof terrace has an all you can eat, (for Euro 10), buffet restaurant and offers wonderful vistas of Istanbul itself. The food itself is nicely presented, water, tea, coffee and juices are included and its all slanted towards...

Staying in Fener & Balat

Neighbourhood Profile
Fener & Balat
This sleepy and rather socially conservative area of Istanbul hosts a small but thriving Jewish community, the patriarchate of the Eastern Orthodox Church, and some of the most beautiful churches and Christian art in the world. Much of what’s most interesting to witness in Fener and Balat sits between the surviving ancient city walls of Constantinople and the serene shores of the Golden Horn. Despite the many splendid sights, historic attractions, stunning vistas, and warm Turkish welcome, the area remains largely unperturbed by the tourist trade that characterizes the atmosphere in nearby Sultanahmet and around the Grand Bazaar. Travelers that like to explore off the beaten track will reap big rewards for making the effort to visit this low-key part of town.
