Helpful staff, who allowed early check-in. The bar, lift and downstairs bathroom are bonuses but the real winner is the location. It's right where you need to be and the tram line makes finding your way or a doddle. Great bars and restaurants are on the doorstep. Rooms are small and nothing flash, and don't expect a view from your...

PROS: location is 5-10mins away from main attractions; short walk from tram stop; lovely breakfast; accomodating staff CONS: small room and bathroom; wi-fi is temperamental; creaky elevator Overall, great place for those on a budget

We stayed only one night but loved this quirky place, great location in the old area. The staff where caring and friendly, provided us with a lovely early morning breakfast of coffee and cake.i would have loved to stay there after our tour but a friend had booked a apartment near Taksim square which was ok but did not have the charm of...

Helpful staff, nice breakfast room and breakfast, a lift (essential with heavy luggage). This is not a top of the range hotel and the rooms opening into the internal well shaft are dark and uninviting but the other rooms are fine. It is well located and you can leave extra bags in their lock up room if you are touring...

The greatest location – 5-10 minute walking for all main sights, Gulhane park and Bosporus. Train station is in 1 minute walking. Nice comfortable rooms, normal size, clean and comfort beds. The only negative thing – the bathroom could be a little bit cleaner (or maybe bath was not very new) and breakfast more “interesting”. Always ask for rooms with...

We stayed at the Erbil Hotel as part of a tour group (Gecko and Intrepid both use this hotel). The hotel rooms aren't much, but they are clean and the aircon works. The hotel is centrally located and easy walking distance to the tram stop nearby and many other attractions and shopping areas. The breakfast in the morning is located...

This is in a great location with the tram stop less than 5 minutes away. The rooms are incredibly small (even for istanbul standards) and dark. The wifi doesn't work in the room and so you need to sit in the lobby. There is an air conditioner in the room however there was no remote (when we asked for one...

We stayed there end of October, 2013 for four days. Room booked by our travel agency. The hotel is nicely located in the historic and touristy part of the Old City, nearby all things of interest to the tourist. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast OK but we have seen worse. Rooms clean and comfy-standard issue. Just what we wanted...

Great location and great access to lots of attractions in Istanbul. However, our room was pathetically small, dowdy, no air and a view of what looked like an elevator shaft. We had to sleep with the door open to the hallway as the room was too stuffy. Complementary breakfast was good.

Travel agent booked a room at this hotel for us. We were travalling with the little kid and when we arrived the kids bed was already in the room. The room was large and light (509). Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
