I stayed 10 days in this hotel. It is very well located near the main historical site: The Blue mosque, the Hagia Sophia and a 10 minute walk to the Grand Bazaar. Contrary to some of the other post I had excellent service from the people at the desk. They were friendly and helpful. Sorry but if I'm traveling and...

Dirty, out dated, uncomfortable. Woman at front desk rude, unhelpful and disorganised. I find it hard to believe it would pass any safety standards or public health standard tests. Shower was cold, doors at toilets don't lock. No toilet paper.

The Sipahi Hotel is an excellent budget hotel in Istanbul. It is a hotel which has a very good position, very close to Istanbul's famous historical sites like the Sultan Ahmed Mosque or Hagia Sophia. Moreover, it is very close to the tram station "Cemberlitas" so the access is not a problem. The staff is very polite, helpful.

Hey everyone, You need to understand, Istanbul is an expensive place to stay in. I have been going there for the last 3 years and i can tell you this: for a great value in an excellent location, this beats everyone hands down. The staff at reception are great, they helped me whenever I needed directions, advice, etc. The room...

I ended up at Sipahi Hotel in Istanbul after finding out that almost all hotels in Sultanahmet were full that weekend of September 2011. (In retrospective, there was a good reason Sipahi Hotel had rooms available when everyone else was full, as you''ll see below!) The location is not bad: the "hotel" (I place the word within quotes because this...

We stayed here for our TopDeck Tour through Europe. The hotel was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, the tents we had in mykonos were even better than this hotel. Bathrooms were shared facilties which were dirty and smelly and the rooms were cramped and dirty. Most of the plumbing did not work in this hotel and the...

Not a pleasant experience, dirty rooms, slack security, unhelpful staff, and truely filthy bathrooms. For the same price you can get much better hotels in the area, so don't choose this one!

Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
