Stayed for 3 nights. Old hotel but very good service. Very convenient location. Lots of shops nearby. Blue mosque, Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazar at walking distance. Good breakfast. The view from the top floor is priceless.

This was an old hotel but with a superior location. Within easy reach of all the major attractions of the Old City including the Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar, etc. The interiors looked rather dated although well maintained. Lobby had massage chair though these were often in use so we could not use them during the stay....

I definitely got what I wanted from the stay. Get the Bosphorus suite - it has a huge balcony with sweeping views, also a pretty big room. The morning sun is fierce but afternoons and evenings are perfect. I could see the blue mosque while lying in bed. The terrace of the restaurant is just upstairs from the suites and...

Admittedly a little faded, this hotel is within a few hundred meters of the rail-car transit stop, close to the tourist shops, and maybe 10 minutes from the blue Mosque. This means that Sophia Hagia is also 12-15 minutes away. Therefore, as you can see, this is a hotel really very close and convenient to the primary tourist locations you'll...

I stayed here for 3 days and had such an amazing experience. The staff went above and beyond with their service and were extremely friendly especially the staff at the front desk. The location is central and easy to walk to all the sites. Gorgeous views from the terrace and breakfast was very good as well. I would definitely stay...

We have stayed in for a couple of days and we really enjoyed. The room was clean and the position is perfect with all the tourist attraction in a walking distance. The breakfast is very good and you can enjoy a beautiful sight form the terrace. The staff is gentle, we had the flight cancelled because of the snow and...

This was my first visit to beautiful istanbul. We stayed at the Rast Hotel. The hotel is very near the sultanmet complex. It is a budget hotel. The room is clean, warm and cosy. The bathroom is a bit small. The cafe was on the 6th floor. From the cafe terrace, we enjoyed watching the sunrise. It was just awesome....

Stayed here with my family twice recently. In our first stay, we had the Bosphorus Suite, which had an awesome panoramic view of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and of course, the Bosphorus. It was very spacious. You can sit outside as well. In our second stay, the Bosphorus suites were booked so we had the double room which was...

Cheaper than usual (stayed here before). Rooms are typically Turkish, dim corridors, tiny lift, small rooms and very 70s decor. The reception is never manned, staff are always out the back. Breakfast is pretty dire, it's Arabic cuisine so be warned (cucumber, tomato and bread was all we could comfortably eat) if you don't like it. The view from the...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
