On our way to the Aegean coast we stayed in Istanbul for 3 nights. We stayed at one of the top rated boutique hotels with our family, two adults and 4 children. On our journey back from the Aegean coast we had two nights in Istanbul. This time we stayed at Berce apartments, my wife's concern was she didn't want... More

I could not be happier with my stay in Istanbul. Not only was this hotel right next to one of the best (in my opinion) restaurants in Istanbul (Tamara), but it is in the older region so you get to see ruins and very nice architecture within a 1 minute walk from Berce. The Blue Mosque and Ayasofya are both... More

Mehmet, the owner, gave me a warm welcome and excellent advice on cool things to do over my stay. I got the dates wrong for my arrival date and he wouldn't think of charging me for the unused night. I was able to contact him by whatsapp and on the one occasion I couldn't figure out the air conditioning, he... More

We went to Istanbul for the first time this summer and it was an amazing experience. The hotel is extremely close to Sultanahmet square as well as the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofya. We had absolutely no complaints at all! The room was spacious as we stayed in the studio annex with comfortable beds and great restaurants nearby. Overall, we... More

I don't know why my first review was deleted. It certainly didn't violate Tripadvisor guidelines. Perhaps the hotel doesn't like negative reviews. First the positives: - The location is great, a stone’s throw away from the major sights like Sultanahmet Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace - The staff is very kind and helpful - The breakfast buffet is very... I spent my honeymoon there on December 2012 and the staff made it really memorable. 1. The staff were so helpful, they can provide you with maps and useful tips. 2.The location for me was really good, in a decent neighbourhood where you can experience the turkish life with small markets around and best of all you will be close... We loved our stay at the Berce Hotel this past weekend! Mehmet was so kind and made us feel very welcome. He spent time showing us all the best places to visit on a map of the city, and generously gave us his cell phone number so we could text him with questions anytime. He also arranged our transportation to/from... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
