I stayed in this hotel for five nights in the end of February with some friends. The hotel was perfect in every way. The location is very convenient for visiting the most interesting historic spots like Agia Sofia, the Blue Mosque and the Topkapi. The area is full of nice cafes and restaurants. The Grand bazaar and the famous Turkish...

We stayed at the Alaaddin Hotel for one week in March 2010 and were extremely pleased with it. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The breakfast room offers great views of the city while enjoying fresh cooked omelets and other treats. The location is convenient to the major tourist sites in the...

My family experience tremendous service from all staff; the bellboy with curly hair was friendly, helpful indeed so was Mr Mohluddin, a front desk manager in particular. He went the extra mile to provide good service which I had never experience before when traveling. Though a staff, he treated my family and I like family. Good hospitality. Arrived @ 8am and...

We stayed for 3 nights in a small but nice and very clean room. I like the wooden furniture in the room. When we arrived, it was 7a.m and raining. The check-in time is 13p.m actually, but the hotel staff allowed us to check-in that time, even let us had our breakfast!! What a great welcome in Istanbul!! The location...

We have stayed at Alaaddin Hotel several times now and being in the heart of Sultanamet it was great value for money. We paid 65 euros per night including open buffet breakfast, taxes and one way free transportation from Ataturk Airport to the hotel. It is a clean, nicely decorated and comfortable hotel with good staff. A tip: ask for...

Excellent small hotel -a 10 minute walk from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia . The rooms were very clean, some were smaller than others. The size of these rooms limited your ability to really unpack-The rooms had armoires but no real shelving. The rooms I stayed in- I stayed there twice during my 3 week trip. Were quiet. I...

We spent 5 nights at the Alaaddin at the beginning of our 18 day holiday and liked it so much, we returned for our final two nights before our departure from Turkey. The staff is amazingly helpful (particularly Helen--incorrect spelling!-and Ibrahim the 16 yo who is in school for tourism and doing his internship at the hotel.) They are so...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
