We spent the morning touring the Blue Mosque and Ayasofya, leaving us with parched throats and a desire to put our feet up. The terrace offers some fantastic views of both landmarks as well as the teeming boat traffic on the Bosphorous. Prices are higher in Sultanahmet, but here they seemed slightly more so. Staff was attentive, courteous, and very... More

Stayed in Sultan Hostel a few weeks ago in the triple room with private bathroom. Room was decent size, comfortable beds and hot water all day and night! Really good price per night, get what you paid for and more. Decent breakfast was included, loved having it outside in the calm every morning before starting our day. The food in... More

I liked staying here so much, will be heading back at the end of the month when im back in istanbul. Sultan hostel is located in the backpacker/tourist district, lots of travel agents, restaurants and other hostels. Also only a 5 minute walk to the blue mosque and hagia sofia. Our room was a twin private and was good value... More

Patronizing and ill informed reception workers, bad WiFi, no kitchen, the restaurant downstairs as the only common area, only 2 showers and toilets between about 20 people, and bugs in said showers. The multiple person dorm rooms had only one key each, which means that if the last person in the room forgets to lock the door, anyone can have... More

The staff are really cool and looked after me very well! Especially Enes and Aytaç. Less than 4mins walk to Blue Mosque, beds are excellent value for money.. also has the best night time entertainment in the district!

We stayed here for 3 days. Everything was very well. The location is right in the middle of Istanbul and it takes about 5 or 10 minutes to walk to Sultanahmet Square. The staff was extraordinarily heplful and friendly, made good friends there:) The rooms and the toilets were clean. Food was amazing too! We'll certainly choose there for our... More

I was in Istanbul for a week. Booked Sultan Hostel after seeing the reviews and the price. The location is perfect if it's you're first time in Istanbul - a walking distance from most major attractions and if you like walking and going around non-touristy areas...it's not too far from those either. The staff is really friendly and the general... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
