It was very convenient as the hotel is in the heart of Sultanahmet, a walking distance to the Blue Mosque, Topkapi, Aya Sophia and other interesting places such as the Grand Bazaar. The room was basic but clean and the staff was hospitable.

If you are looking for less value for your money, Aquarium Hotel may be your choice! Okay, there are some positive aspects: it's located in the vicinity of the most important sights of Istanbul and the staff seeks to help you (within the limits of their possibilities). BUT: the room was tiny, dirty, without nearly any storage room, there was...

The hotel is very close to all the touristical attractions in the old part of the city, it is perfect. You can walk around and feel completely safe to explore Istanbul. The staff is very nice and always ready to help in any way they can. The room was small, but comfortable and clean. I traveled with my mother and...

I strongly recommend to everyone to avoid this "hotel". All posted photos of the hotel rooms are fake. Small room, small and dirty bathroom, no TV, old and broken furniture, poor breakfast, no view at all, poor wireless signal, communication with hotel stuff is very difficult and cleaning of room didn't exist. Despite our pre-arrival discution about the price of...

Staff is very helpeful, however their English is not that good. Breakfast is good enough to handle all morning, you can find the typical food in Turkey... Also they served us before in the morning as we were having the flight very early. Bathroom is not very clean, you can see also some damage inside the shower... Bedrooms are good...

The hotel's website promises "spectacular views from our rooftop terrace" - it doesn't exist! Location is close to the main tourist sites e.g. Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Underground Cisterns and the bazaar and it's cheap for single occupancy of double room with comfy bed and aircon. But maintenance is poor with dodgy plumbing and electrical fittings. Thin, poorly...

I stayed accidentaly on this hotel in September 2012. I don't have words to describe the hotel. I suppose that it should be shut down by the authorities for a number of hygiene and safety regulations. We arrived at nightthere sincethe hotel we initially booked had been shut down. The travel agent booked there without asking us. First impresion was...

This was a horrible experience. We arrived tired from travel to find that they hadn't reserved our assigned room. They said they hadn't received the booking. This was a little strange as they had charged my credit card a booking fee and had records of the email I had sent through. But these things happen, not an issue if they...

I would strongly recommend all travellers to stay away from this hotel. 1. I'm a solo traveller, paid 40 euro / night for a room that was little bigger then the bed in it, most of the furniture was broken in some respect and both the room and bed were dirty. 2. The television had such bad reception that it...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

“Confirm your room ahead of time and if you are having them pick you up at the airport be sure they confirm that as well. It is on a quiet street so don't worry about noise.”

“Avoid top floor rooms as I was disturbed early morning by birds feeding noise at the roof of my room. Moreover the lift goes till only 3rd floor and you need to take stairs to reach top floor (4th floor)”
