The hotel nippon is a good choice if you want to see the old influence the colonials had on the country. The rooms are spacious, however smelly. The room we had was extremely dark and good for a long sleep as it is kind of like a dungeon. There isnt any outside noise at all and the bathroom is good....

This hotel, which has a good location, is a pretty good stay for the money, but is a mix between a charming oldfashioned relict and a low hygiene standard backpacker stay. Its probably not to reccomend for unexperienced travellers, but for people who has stayed on hotels in Asia since the sixties and secenties, this place is a place you...

If you need a cheap, well located bed for a night in Colombo - this is a good bet. If you are looking for a nice stay (for more than a day or two), I can't recommend it. The hotel is very old, sad, crumbling, worn down and unloved, and I can believe all of the reports of dirty walls,...

Hotel was filthy and stunk of cigarettes. Our friend was moved as the smell was so bad. Very dirty walls and bathrooms. Half of the ceiling was missing from the bathroom in one of the rooms. Stay as a last resort, if you have to, but would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

It is one of the cheapest place, that isn't a total hole in Colombo. It has a nice location, close to the train station, Cinnamon Hotel, the post office, the bus stop and the bank. So thats a plus. we stayed in two seperate rooms on two occasions. The first room was clean and the air con was strong -...

Other than the efficient staff who took my reservation (by phone) and checked me in, this hotel really has very little to recommend about it. Granted it is at the cheap end of Colombo’s accommodation, but the room was very dirty and dusty for which I don’t think there can be any excuse. I saw the only cockroaches of my...

Sad old place with dirty halls. If you want colonial atmosphere, go have lunch at the Galle Face Hotel. I was put in the wrong room type, on the road side with a dance party somewhere. Terrible noise that even drowned out the air con. Also I stupidly booked through an online booking agency and the rate was double the...

The Nippon Hotel has certainly seen better days, but if you want to experience what it was like to live in Colombo in Colonial times at a reasonable price, this is it. We have stayed at the Nippon 3 times now and enjoyed our stay every time, We have had both an Air/Con and a fan room with a balcony...

LKR 125-150 to Colombo Fort station, Pettah, Galle Face, Galle Buck Light House. Rooms are clean and very comfortable. Staffs are very friendly. As we went with infant, they allowed us to check out after 2 hrs.. That’s...
