We only stayed here one night in February 2020 at the end of our Cambodia holiday. As other reviewers have said, it is a winning combination of a small hotel in a peaceful garden together with excellent service from the staff.

We were upgraded to a pool view room on the second floor (room 21) which was spacious and well maintained. There was a balcony overlooking the pool, and all the usual facilities. Modern bathroom apart from the bath itself which had ugly black grouting on it. Complimentary water hot drinks and fruit. Overall probably a 3 star plus by UK standards. Very good wifi.

The garden area has a surprisingly large pool and shady areas to sit in and relax. There is surprisingly little noise from outside and the hotel is in the embassy district. This means it is quieter but probably too far to walk to the city centre in the heat, so tuk tuk needed, which is no big deal as they are plentiful and cheap.

Breakfast is a la carte and very good and quick, served on the poolside terrace. It feels more like a beach resort than a city centre hotel!

We ate in the hotel in the evening which was a good mix of local and Japanese and western food, served outside to the sound of piano music - so nice in a busy city centre.

The owner Susumu Kuroda took time to chat to us and the other guests - he is Japanese which may explain why the place is so efficiently run! The staff were smiley and welcoming as ever. We luckily managed to get a late check out as well.

We had a massage in the hotel spa which was good and convenient but the spa area is rather small, and it is probably better to get a tuk tuk to excellent similarly priced local spas such as Bodia in the city centre if you have the time.

Overall, whilst far from luxurious or opulent, this is a lovely little (relatively) peaceful oasis in the centre of PP, good value, well run. We would come again if in PP again without a doubt. No surprise at all this is so well reviewed.

We recently spent a two night stay in this lovely hotel and would recommend it to others.

This Japanese owned hotel has a tranquility and simplicity of decor that you might expect. The owner and staff are all very helpful and welcoming and the pool and gardens are well maintained.

Apart from breakfast, we also ate, poolside, a tasty small lunch from the restaurant.

Immediately outside the hotel, there are a couple of tuk-tuk drivers who know the staff clearly know well and they are trusted to take clients wherever they need to go. The staff will advise as to cost and tell the driver accordingly.

This hotel offers a real oasis within an otherwise busy city at a very reasonable cost.

We would highly recommend

I stayed at Iroha with my family, we had two separate rooms.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff couldn’t do enough for us. It was five star service all the way.

Our rooms were upgraded after two nights, breakfast was included with no early time limit on when you could eat it, so you could have breakfast at 8pm in the evening if desired. We got 20% off meals at the hotel and ate there a couple of nights, the food was lovely.

We had little gifts delivered to our room each day, like biscuits or fruit etc. my son was also bought herbal tea to help him sleep, which they didn’t charge us for.

The hotel itself is an old colonial building, it is clean inside, with basic but stylish decor.

The pool isn’t too small and sitting on the loungers outside all day is peaceful and quiet. The garden is very green and lush.

You actually don’t feel like you are staying in Phnom Penh

In the rooms you are provided with a kettle, fridge, hair dryer. Clean towels are available each day, if you ask for them, but they are very environmentally friendly and advise you to only change when necessary. Glass bottles are used for drinking water and there is a refill bottle in the hall. I really loved all these little touches.

The staff are delightful, the service to a high standard.

I would highly recommend a stay at Iroha, you will not regret it.

You enter to an oasis through a small entrance, suddenly surrounded by lush greenery, a warm welcome and the sight of a large cool pool .
The rooms are big( bed must have been a double king-size) nicely decorated with all that you could want. The restaurant is nicely presented indoors and out doors, the food is at a good price and very tasty, First place I have been were mosquito repellent is provided if needed for free. The service is good with a nice ambience. On arrival given a bottle of French Rose for booking so far in advance and not cancelling. 2 days after my birthday and never mentioned it ,yet a cake appeared one morning with a lot of singing. A mango ice cream cake, amazing. On the last day they moved us to a smaller room so we could have a place until 6pm as a late flight out at no charge. One of the three above would be wonderful, but all 3 on a two night visit , magical ! The individual who work here want you to feel welcomed and valued and want to you to have a good stay. One day wife was feeling a bit off, suddenly ginger tea appeared. We mentioned nothing, yet they picked it up. I have been to a few place in my time and a few hotels and this stand out on its own for pure brilliant hospitality and service.

Location, 15 minute tuktuk ride to centre, 25 mins to the killing fields, 5 mins to the Russian market ( market in the centre is better) take the local ferry across the river to get a good view of the city and the two rivers meeting , one blue, one mud colour , cost about 50 cents, and a very relaxed quiet place on the other side, Royal palace is a must .

At the end when we left, The boss, Manager and 2 staff saw us off with a bow and a wave.

What a place !!

Thank you

We spent two nights at iRoHa and were very pleased indeed. Phnom Penh is, I'm afraid, rather a dirty, bustling city but this small hotel stood out as an oasis. Its position in the embassy compound is an advantage. Our room was comfortable and had every convenience. If I had to find a negative it would be that the bathroom was a little basic (shower a bit mouldy) but perfectly functional. The staff service was just outstanding. They foresaw your every need. The first evening we went out for a drink and the receptionist both booked us a tuk tuk on Grab and sent us out with a free mobile phone to call them for rescue if we got stranded! For some reason the hotel's restaurant doesn't seem to get accolades on TA but the food was probably the best we ate anywhere in IndoChina - really great, aromatic flavours and reasonably priced. It was relaxing to sit in the tropical garden after trips out into the chaos of the city. Someone would always run out to spread a towel on a chair. Really good and very reasonably priced.

I had the pleasure to stay a couple of times these past 6 months at Iroha Garden. What draws, and keeps driving me back there? First would be there great team along with owner Mr Susumu, always warm-welcoming and delivering impeccable service, with smile and cheerfulness. And what to say about the place's outstanding setting: a beautiful architect's Villa dated from the 60's with it's pool and flowery garden, allowing lucky guests to sunbath or rest under the shade of a tree. The situation of the Hotel, in a private compound, and sheltered by high walls, insulates from city-center's busy traffic noise. Lots of choices of foods are available, from Khmer/Western classics to Japanese inspired dishes. Rooms are also very comfortable and well arranged equipment and amenities of good quality. Hygiene is also absolutely flawless, in rooms, hotel commune parts and Staff Team makes sure good practices are followed by all guests, in order to ensure everybody's safety.
I would keep the final word to outline again Owner's and his Team's great sense of Hopsitality, making you feel welcomed at all time, like at home!

IRoHa Garden is without a doubt the best staycation in Phnom Penh as well as the most notable hospitality experience in Cambodia.
The Staff and Proprietors mix easily with guests, providing unmatched service and creating 'home' inside beautiful as well as extremely well maintained surroundings.
In tastefully decorated rooms are daily added touches of selected flowers-fresh from the Garden.
The Management takes time to research where you come from, then is interested to know more.
Relaxation is complete with a choice from a wide range of Spa Treatments, a sparkling swimming pool, in addition to reading in different quiet areas.
I highly recommend this Establishment for many reasons.

My friends and I had the chance to stay at the hotel for a staycation late Novembre 2021. We immediately enjoyed the quiet of the hotel. Though you are located close to one of Phnom Penh’s busiest avenues, the hotel is located on a quiet street where most cars aren’t allowed to pass. The result is that you can enjoy the sunny and well exposed pool and the garden without any disturbance. Moreover, outsiders are not allowed to use the pool - which makes the hotel even more quiet and enjoyable - unlike most of Phnom Penh’s hotels (like Penhouse or Plantation).
On top of this quiet and relaxing atmosphere, you’ll find really professional and friendly staff who will do their best to make you feel at home.

We stayed in rooms 16 and 17 which were really spacious and had a warm and homey vibe. The rooms featured a coffee machine and we were welcomed with a choice of tea and small cakes which were nicely appreciated. You’ll note that the hotel is also mindful of sustainability, providing water in glass containers and putting the shower creams in bigger, refillable containers.

If I had to find something to complain about, maybe it would be the food price, which is quite high (though the quality is fair). But I didn’t really mind, as the rest of our stay was truly a unique and amazing experience.

Thank you for your warm hospitality!

I just spent 6 nights at this beatiful hotel and it exceeded my already very high expectations! The hotel is located in a very quiet area but just a short, inexpensive tuk tuk ride to the heart of Phnom Penh, attractions, restaurants, etc. The room was spacious, nicely decorated, quiet, and had excellant air conditioning and fan above bed. I stayed in a room with a king bed overlooking the pool for the first leg of my trip, and was upgraded to a private villa near the pool when I came back from Siem Reap. Both rooms were perfect. The included breakfast each morning was outstanding, as was the the hotel restaurant. Terrific options for breakfest included American, Asian and Japanese selections, along with fruit, fresh juice, coffee and tea. The fish amok and chicken with cashew nuts for lunch and dinner were also top notch, as were the desserts. The grounds of the hotel were very tropical and relaxing, and it was a treat to swim in the pool after exploring the area all day in the hot sun! The private cabana's with fan inside were a nice touch too. The staff was also fantastic. Every employee would greet you cheerfully in the morning, and say "welcome home" when you returned. It was super easy arranging exursions, transportation and restaurant reservations from the front desk also. You can also book a massage at this hotel which was incredibly relaxing. I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel and hope to return in the future.

The Iroha is the antithesis of an anonymous corporate hotel so prevalent in capital cities of the world. As an oasis it is even more welcome in the general melee that is Phnom Penh. Outstanding features include the staff - all staff, the owner/manager, the proactive service levels, and the (relatively) quiet location. It is also excellent value for money and as a result well worth trading up to the more premium rooms. The top of the list Iroha suite was spacious, well furnished with some excellent features and a pleasant balcony. The pool is very welcome at the end of a full days exploring - try and get one of the 3 cabanas pool-side. Wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else when we are back in Phnom Penh sometime.
