A history of hospitality. The luxury of time. The secret charm of Cambodia. One of Asia's essential destination hotels, Raffles Phnom Penh has been the iconic sanctuary for the well-travelled since 1929. Located in the heart of vibrant Phnom Penh, Raffles Hotel Le Royal has been part of the history of the city and welcomes, as it has always done, a diverse clientele of entrepreneurs, writers, journalists, royalty and intrepid travellers from across the globe. The rooms and suites have been respectfully restored to reflect a distinguished blend of Khmer, Art Deco and French colonial architecture. In keeping with history and a sense of place, the elegant Restaurant Le Royal serves modern French and Royal Khmer cuisines with original recipes graciously gifted to Raffles by the Royal Palace. Almost as famous as the hotel itself, the Elephant Bar is where local residents and visitors alike gather over cocktails, particularly to sample from the country's most diverse gin collection.

Booked 3 night stay in Raffles in Phnom Penh on arrival in Cambodia. It truly is a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city and all its sights.
We had booked a Landmark room for our stay which I think is the regular king size bedroom. We were offered an upgrade to quiet suite overlooking the pool / garden area for an extra $115 a night but decided against it. The room we had booked looked fine until music from the Uni party over the road started up ! As our room faced out over the front of the hotel where the loud music was I asked to change room. Once I had spoken with the manager Mr Thomas Bianco it was all swiftly sorted and we were moved to a beautiful room in the rear building which has a side balcony overlooking the pool.
The staff will exceed expectations here - they are all very courteous polite and friendly and always checking that everything is okay.
We have dined here for breakfast and dinner and the food is very good.
The pool area lovely with tropical trees surrounding it. The pool area staff are very attentive also.
The Elephant 🐘 Bar is lovely for a relaxing drink on an evening either pre or post dinner. Huge selection of drinks -for anyone like me who doesn’t drink alcohol they have a large selection of Lyres 0% and will make pretty much anything on request even off the bar menu ! Just ask - nothing is too much trouble for them
We took a day sightseeing tour and this place was the perfect remedy to relax after a busy day.
They not only clean your room daily but also do a turn down service.
This was a special trip for my husband and I and after the initial room issue due to the student building opposite hosting a NY party for 3 days and needing to change rooms our stay here is what I would have hoped for.
A unique blend of Old World charm with modern classical touches and a personal touch that goes above and beyond !
( beds and pillows are also super comfy here )

Stayed here for two nights on our trip around Vietnam and Cambodia.
Exceptional welcome from the staff and from Denis, hotel manager.
Accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Just beware your room location as the early morning traffic and street noise can disturb. If you are a light sleeper then a pool facing room may be better for you.
The garden and pool area are very inviting and great place to relax.
We both enjoyed the food and drink in the elephant bar where the staff were very helpful and answered all of our questions.
ATM on site for cash withdrawals .
Getting around from the hotel location is no problem either by taxi or tuc tuc and both are very reasonably priced.
No hesitation in recommending this hotel. We would stay there again

I booked a couple nights as a solo birthday treat for myself - needed to relax and unwind. I cannot praise this hotel and their lovely staff for going the extra mile in giving me exactly what I needed. The property is simply beautiful but the unobtrusive, pollite and kind service staff made it very special indeed. Although I had not mentioned it was my birthday, they staff must have noticed on check-in and a cake, along with a framed picture of the property, signed by all staff members was delivered to my room. The cleaning staff noticed I had some issues with the coffee maker and so they took the time to explain what I was doing wrong. A dozen red roses in the room, a personalised welcome note, along with a lovely chocolate tray.

In addition, I was VERY impressed with the reduction of single use plastics in the room. Glass water bottles, only cans and glass in the mini fridge, no bin liners and reduced plastics in the amenities. KUDOS to them for these efforts!

I would heartily recommend Raffles to anyone who needs a relaxing break from the daily grind....

We went for a dinner there., well we tried)) The F&B manager who booked table for us 1 hr before we were due to come did not know that one of his restaurants were closed. The elephant bar is great, however please do watch bar staff when they mix your drinks - using unclean fingers to put your cucumber into gin perhaps is not a great idea. Small things, however it’s not a little market kiosk, but Raffles. Expectations are high.

A regular customer for many years at the Royal in Phnom Penh before the covid period, i was extremely shocked by the very poor dervice at the hotel even if the property is wonderful and if the staff try its best to please you, the once famous French restaurant Le Royal now serve cambodian food only that we can find in dozen of restaurants in Phnom Penh just 8 times cheaper
As for the coffe shop very basic food suite tasteless.
and only local beers available, no Heineken or Budweiser or foreign beer in this five stars hotel. The result: not one guest at both restaurants during my stay.
Very sad atmosphere

Dear krisdas2014, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your review about your recent stay at Raffles Hotel Le Royal! While it is great to read you enjoyed the property and the friendliness of our team, I was very sad to read your comments regarding our restaurants and bar offerings and to learn it did not match your preference. Restaurant Le Royal, recently reopened, serves Traditional Royal Khmer Cuisine with recipes once given by the Royal Palace, as well as a more modern take on some traditional recipes, re-interpreted by our Head Chef. This is staged in our iconic dining room, with hand painted ceilings by painter Asasax, and serenaded by our resident pianist from Thursday to Sunday. Our brasserie Le Phnom 1929 serves exclusively French cuisine, with the recent addition of a monthly menu, highlighting the various culinary regions of France. The hotel bar stocks a very large selection of both local and imported beers, including Budweiser and many others, a large selection of Belgium beers, craft IPAs, and Heineken which is served on draught at the Elephant Bar. I apologize on behalf of my team if this was not highlighted to you while staying with us. While we are of course listing many international and imported products in our menus, we also take great pride where possible in promoting the very good quality products crafted by Cambodian artisans as we want to support the community around us. At Raffles, we take every guest feedbacks very seriously and use them to enhance our service and product. Thank you very much again for pointing areas for us to improve. Please feel free to contact me directly at Thomas.Bianco@Raffles.com should you need to share more about your recent stay and I will be happy to personally ensure we find some ways to delight you upon your next visit. Yours sincerely, Thomas Bianco Executive Assistant Manager

First, let me say that the Raffles is a nice place to stay. The staff is very attentive, the hotel is clean. However, with that said, I can say the same about almost every hotel I have stayed in in PP (3 this trip) So the question to ask, is it worth the money to stay here. I stayed at hotels at 1/3 the cost where the room was much bigger, and the extras were 1/10 of this place. If you have money to burn and want the status of saying you stayed there, by all means, this is the place for you. If not, there are many others with larger rooms at a more economical price, and service to knock your socks off.

My parents and I stayed at Raffles Hotel Le Royal upon our arrival into Phnom Penh for our two week holiday in March 2020. We stayed for 3 nights in total, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The Hotel has recently been renovated and still had work being carried out on the one end of the Hotel. The Hotel is mainly white and has a fresh/breezy feel to it whilst still maintaining their Colonial theme throughout. The Pool was clean and very big so you were never too close to other guests.
Our only drawback was the Service in their main restaurant Le Phnom 1929 was mildly testing at times. We understand English is not Cambodia's native language, however it was sometimes difficult to put our orders and requests across to staff due to the language barrier - my family and I have been all across Asia in the last 8 years and have not struggled as much as we did in this restaurant. Our main Waitress was lovely but seemed extremely nervous due to what seemed to be the Head Waiter watching her like a hawk, and she proceeded to pour a small drip of wine into my Mothers water glass, however I think if anyone was to be put in that situation they would make a small mistake as well.
The next two evenings for dinner we visited the Rosewood Hotel around the corner which has a rooftop bar and two fantastic restaurants... however we felt the staff were not as welcoming and did not believe there was a pool (from what we could see) so would choose to stay at Raffles again if we were visiting Phnom Penh.

My stay began with a clockwork meet and greet at the airport and transfer to the hotel where I was graciously welcomed to the hotel and promptly checked in to a State King Pool View Room.

The overall property is a delight and haven from the hustle and bustle beyond the hotel boundary: it has managed to retain a far more genuine and authentic feel than, for example, Raffles Singapore. The room and shower space are somewhat small for the luxury rate charged but such can be the case given the heritage restrictions. The room was nevertheless comfortable and functional.

The two large swimming pools in the tropical gardens are a great attraction of the property [how one wishes Raffles Singapore had kept the pool in the Palm Court!] Be warned that the hotel allows local non-resident guests to use the pool which does detract from the otherwise peaceful ambiance from time to time: not a practise one would expect of a high calibre luxury hotel. Given the hotel has the luxury of two pools, perhaps the hotel management could give consideration to making the deeper pool an adults only pool as many other hotels do?

The breakfast spread at Le Phnom 1929 was more than adequate to fuel one's day but one would have expected a somewhat more sophisticated spread from Raffles, particularly the cheese selection given Raffles is French-owned now (what cheese was on offer was pre-sliced and drying out somewhat: not the best look when the same slices present the next morning harder and drier in some instances.)

The Restaurant Le Royal is a beautiful dining space complete with ironed table clothes and live pianist: a rare find in the world today!

Just one other niggle, namely, please tone down the blaring jazz music, particularly in the breakfast room. I did hear pleasant soft classical music playing in the lobby on a couple of occasions: far more appropriate for this classic property (I note I'm not the first person to comment on this either).

Apart from a few minor niggles it was an overall pleasant stay. At the end of the day what can make or break a property is the staff and at the Hotel Le Royal they were all excellent! All staff encountered were always friendly, helpful and eager to assist. Thank you again to Chief Concierge Mr. Pann for a most enlightening history tour.

Our stay with Raffles was very enjoyable and pleasant right from the beginning to our departure. Everything was very well taken care of with professionalism, including airport pickup, check-in procedure and making the room, etc.

I'm very much impressed with the airport pickup arrangement. The chauffeur was well-groomed and very polite. The ride was also very comfortable and it was nice to have a glass of water right after the flight.

The welcome drink upon arrival was very refreshing and delicious! The staff also put efforts into remembering and addressing you with your name to make your stay more personal.

All staff were very well-trained, attentive and helpful. Some of them went the extra mile to show me the way and accompany me to walk to the next location that I was looking for.

The spa treatment was a wonderful experience with smooth transition. It was very relaxing and the masseur Chi was professional and friendly. She explained everything very clearly before you even asked to make you feel at ease at all times.

Another surprise was the thoughtfulness of offering some fresh fruits, different types of sprays and a cold drink at the pool. The staff always made themselves available and would come to you at the right time while giving you enough space.

The room decor and details were classy and functional. We especially love the antique telephone and the bathroom design. Highly recommended and we look forward to returning to Raffles!!

We have enjoyed Raffles hospitality in multiple countries so it was an easy choice for our one week quarantine in the first week of November to allow us to enter Cambodia.

Prompt and professional response to initial enquiry from May who handled our booking.

We were met at the airport by Som Sopheap who helped handle the entry process, some paperwork clarification, transfer and checked on us during the stay. He is clearly a great asset for Raffles and destined for higher level roles.

The check-in by Raksmey, daily food and amenities delivery by Chana & team and the exit process including dealing with Ministry of Health by Rey were up to Raffles high standards. We also appreciated the personal attention by Thomas Bianco.

The Accommodation on third floor with a good sized balcony overlooking the pool made the quarantine as tolerable as could be given the circumstances.

Thank you Som and all the Raffles team for looking after us.
