We stayed for a total of 3 nights in HCM city and there are very few positives about this hotel. The location is very convenient where it allowed us to walk to Ben Thanh Market, Ben Thanh Street food market, War museum and Reunification/Independence palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Rooftops bars, pubs, restaurants and surrounding areas of District 1.

The walls are very thin and we got disturbed every morning by guests staying near us and the housekeeping staff. The carpets outside our room were also very outdated and dirty. This needs to be upgraded by the hotel for the amount of money we paid for the accomodation.

As we had day tours booked every day and they were scheduled for a 8am start, we rarely stayed at the hotel and during the evenings we hopped over to grand silverland hotel’s rooftop bar. If you are thinking of staying for a couple of nights on a budget and don’t want to stay in a hostel or backpacker place, this place is ideal. We would prefer to stay at Grand silverland hotel next time.

Caution to all travellers - Be weary of the photos posted by vietnamese hotels as they can be quite deceiving.

Well located in district 1, only a 2 minute walk from the market and lots of eateries and massage parlours. There is a convenience store on the same street which is good.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet served a variety of food and there is even a different special every morning.

We were traveling with a baby and they were very accommodating and helpful. We booked a superior room with the baby and we needed the space. Other members of our group booked a standard room which was quite small but comfortable. Some rooms for our group were a lot hotter and the AC not as effective. The rooms were clean.

One minus is that only one room key per room which makes it difficult at times!

Overall a lovely stay, thank you!

This was the 1st time we had been to Vietnam and didn’t know much about the area we had been told to stay in. We are so happy we chose this hotel as it was right around the corner from all the markets and not too far of a walk to shopping malls.
The staff were very friendly and always happy to help.
The hallways to the rooms could do with updating as I felt I was walking in Student accommodation in Manchester. The rooms were very nice, a little petite but given we were only staying for 3 days it was fine for us.
Found it quite hard to find a hotel in Ho Chi Minh that had a pool unless you paid high prices, so unfortunately this hotel does not have a pool.
Ironing board was a bit old and broken so had to iron clothes very carefully.
Otherwise a very good stay.

FYI: we wouldn’t recommend staying in Ho Chi Minh during Chinese New Year as the whole city closes down to celebrate so markets/shopping centres and restaurants are not open from 2-6 days

No amenities advertised were available: No food at all, restaurant closed. Nearby restaurants all closed or carry out only. No laundry available, no laundry service available as alternative. No maintenance staff after 5pm, room phone broken, air-conditioning broken, TV broken, refrigerator not cold. Reception staff refused check-in on arrival without 2nd Covid-19 Vaccination in spite of current negative PCR test, until we made a scene. Room descriptions very confusing, rooms do not match the photos on Websites. Staff was friendly enough, just very inexperienced, inflexible and unapologetic when challenged with false advertising/unavailability of amenities and unacceptable lack of maintenance. The solution offered was for us to pay more for a different room "type". Will never return. Much better choices, even during Covid nearby.

GK Central is a great hotel in District One. The rooms are comfortable and the location is excellent. The hotel staff will help in any way they can and they are a great group of people. I really enjoyed the hotel breakfasts. Every morning there is a different noodle soup which was excellent. As well, the usual hotel staple of cooked eggs in whatever combination you like. There is a contained hot food selection, two variety of cut fruits and the usual salads, yoghurt and so on. The selection is not big but during my month stay in Vietnam I think this breakfast was a better option than in some of the grander places I stayed. The noodle soup is fresh hot, tasty and nourishing. If you ask the breakfast staff will make you a coffee which is considerably better than the help yourself option. Rooms at the front, on the street, can hear the music from the disco around the corner, but it was never loud enough to bother me and it ends reasonably early. The sofas in the lobby are a great place to sit, chat and watch the world go by, on the street as well as in the hotel I really did like the GK.

Hotel is great location but rooms are pretty average. We have a room on 6th floor right near fire evac door where people went out to smoke. Room had no window you could open and looked onto next door roof. Really mouldy bathroom blind. Room felt stuffy. They also only give you one room key, likely because they don't want you to leave air con going all day.

You get what you pay for.

Great hotel, good price and amazing breakfast. The hotel is a great location, we were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. The front was staffed at all hours and took good care of us. Each morning we had an amazing breakfast and could order freshly cooked food as well. My only complaint was the size of the room. It was difficult to fit 2 luggage pieces. We were a little cramped, but don’t spend much time in the room on vacation anyways, so it wasn’t a deal breaker for us.

I stayed 3 nights in this centrally located hotel which is a stone throw from the well known Bên Thanh Market. I love this area because everything is at arm's reach: currency change, good restaurants and the Ben Thanh Market. The hotel's bedding is good and the room is quite comfy. The included breakfast is quite complete with fruits, salad bar, bread bar, soups...and different national dishes (they have to be prepared individually) are offered by the staff which is very friendly and helpful. Ask them to uber or graber a taxi for you if needed. And if you need to change your currency to the vietnamese $dong, just go to the 5 or 6 change offices around Ben Thanh market where the rate are better than in banks where you have to show your passport.

For the price we paid we can't complain. Yes the rooms are very tiny, yes the walls are paper thin & you can hear everything, yes we struggled fitting our suitcases in our room BUT it was a comfy clean bed to rest our heads & staff were friendly & breakfast was good at a good price. Iced Vietnamese coffees were SO good, figured out you can order your breakfast to be made fresh instead of eating buffet which was great & at no extra cost. The staff at breakfast were so lovely & friendly 🙂
Great location. A little tip, order your own taxis as if you get hotel to organise it they pay the drivers hardly anything but charge you double the price.
Next time will organise our own transport & tip the driver

I stayed at GK Central Hotel for 2 nights in HCMC, and I can recommend to stay here, if you need an ok, cheap place to stay with a perfect location for getting around in central HCMC/Saigon. The room was comfortable and clean, however quite small (and much smaller than the impressions from the photos), and the window faced a court yard to a school, so there was a lot of noise from the school children in the daytime (but we were hardly there, but out and exploring the city, so didn't matter). The breakfast was a bit so-so, and the breakfast room very crowded, we had troubles finding a place to sit on the second day. However, I must give credit to the staff at the hotel who were all very friendly, helpful and welcoming, so this was a huge plus for us.

Do you have a pick up service from the airport? thank you
Answer from yotsmn

I'm fairly sure they do, but best to send the hotel an email to confirm. If you decide to catch a taxi from the airport make sure you get a metered one (Vinasun and Taxi Mai Linh Ho are a reputable taxi companies) and expect to pay approx VND250,000

Yes. To be safe, send them an email of your request. Better choose the de luxe rooms as it comes with a balcony.

Find this question rather ambiguous but feel you are definitely not welcome at this hotel. There are other places you can find elsewhere. This hotel is great for families and people who enjoy the facilities and the great staff that welcome you
