You will love Saigon and the Vietnamese people, they always have a smile on their face and Saigon is a very safe city.

The Asian hotel is cheap and extremely central, but we tried three rooms and they were all very noisy. Either generator noise or noise from a busy street outside + air-con is a little noisy. Food in the hotel was good, but staff do not speak hardly any English.

Good large department store is next door to the hotel and the Tourist information centre is across the road.

If you are NOT light sleepers, then book this hotel. The rooms are like a two star hotel in the UK. Although Saigon is a busy city and even the more expensive hotels I imagine may be noisy.

You need at least three nights in Saigon. And an absolute must is a trip to the tunnels. Taxis are cheap and probably the safest way to get around the city.

This humble hotel is right smacked in the city centre, district 1, where the key heritage sites, restaurants and shopping are located. Union Square is directly across the street at the main door. It is approximately 5 mins walk to Saigon River. The location is excellent for the price I paid. However, do beware of touters and beggars lingering outside the hotel waiting for guests to exit. I suppose this could occur in other hotels in Saigon as we'll.

I was pleased with the the amenities in the hotel as it was clean and safe. There was housekeeping daily and the bed was comfortable. Basic toiletries and safe box were available. I had a room with the balcony facing Union Square on the 6th floor with a nice view.

Buffet style breakfasts were provided during our four day stay. There was a wide selection from toasts to traditional Vietnamese pho. Food was fresh and plentiful. The dinning area was spacious and had lots of tables for the size of the hotel.

The staff were generally friendly and helpful. I needed their assistance with some matters and they were very quick to respond. We booked a full day tour to Mekong Delta and a half day tour to Cu Chi Tunnel through the hotel. I was impressed with the tours as the group were small (between 7 - 11 people) so the guides paced the trips very well. On our final day, the hotel allowed us to check out slightly later as our return flight was in the late afternoon. The staff also helped us to get a taxi on the main road to the airport. We had wanted to book a taxi but they advised us to get it on the street as it was easy and cost much lesser.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay in the hotel and in Saigon. I would definitely recommend it if you are not looking for a lux accommodation.

Their rooms are large but quite old. The rooms are relatively clean. Our room had a small deck and we got a view of the opera house.

The manager was great with helping us arrange our transportation (he also helped us out via email when we had to place a lost camera claim with our travel insurance company). He was also the one to help us book our room through email about a month ahead.

Location is quite good as you are within walking distance of everything, including Ben Thanh market.

Great pho breakfast.

Try to get a room in the back of the hotel to avoid the incessant loud noise of Saigon streets. The location and price certainly outweighs the lack of "nice touches" for us. We went in winter (Jan 2006) during high season and paid ~US$60.night.

The location and price of the Asian Hotel are fantastic. The hotel is located on Dong Khoi, Saigon's central artery, within easy walking distance of all downtown attractions (once you get the hang of crossing the street in Saigon's crazy traffic :). The price we paid was very cheap by western standards--three rooms to accommodate the whole family cost less than a single room would at many three-star western hotels.

The rooms were plain--but hey, what do you expect for the price? They were clean, included all the expected amenities and even some unexpected ones (decent beds, cable TV, even free combs in the bathroom), and a good breakfast at the lobby restaurant to start the day was included in the price. The desk staff was also nice.

I would definitely stay here again if I were to return to Saigon. It's great value for money and the location is, again, unbeatable.

Tip: If you can, ask for one of the renovated rooms, as they're somewhat nicer than the older ones.

This hotel is pathetic. We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, and it was the worst 4 nights of out entire trip! Although this hotel has a wonderful location in the city center, it is not a good hotel if you want quality and value for your money. This hotel was dirty, had very rude and unfriendly staff, horrible breakfasts, and very small, old rooms without a security box. For the price, this place was the worst! I would have happily paid $10 for this hotel, but NO MORE.

Just to give you a better idea of the breakfast... imagine 2 pieces of stale french bread with a small slab of butter and jam, with runny runny eggs. It was terrilbe, and juice was an extra $2!

To explain the uncleanliness, well... it would take all day... but for example, they do not clean the bathroom floors or vacuum the rooms. We had sticky stuff all over our bathroom floor, along with sewer smells. And the hotel lobby is just as bad. We found puke in the lobby and the lobby bathroom..... The staff knew about it, but took no action to clean it up.

I would never ever recommend this hotel unless it was $10 or less.

This is a terrible hotel. The rooms are shabby, unclean and very noisy. We did not get to sleep until 3.30 AM because of the noise of the enhanced bass from themusic in the coffee bar to the rear of the establishment. As a result we did not rise untril 0930.We asked for breakfast but were refused=breakfast finishes ar 0930 after which the cook was not available. The Free Wifi was inoperable because of lack of basic maintenance as was the computer system. There is a lack of even basic security-no in room safe and no hotel safe offered.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I stayed in this hotel for two nights. The location is Great, right in Downtown and next to the Intercontinental Hotel. The rooms are just what you expect for a 50.00 usd per night hotel. Just average but clean which is what I was looking for.
I would say that it is a good value for your money in the city. It is also next to two Malls. In the one next door they even have a supermarket and food court on the 4th floor where you can try different Vietnamese, Chinese and international food.

If you don't want to spend much on accommodation but want to be in the centre of District 1, this hotel will suit you. It's a budget hotel with no luxuries and the rooms are a little worn and tired. Everything works well, including wifi, and a modest breakfast is included in the room rate. Rooms are serviced and cleaned nicely and the place is a good base for sight seeing as most of the main attractions are an easy walk away. There are dozens of restaurants and bars in the area and if you must shop high end, you are surrounded by upmarket malls.

This small hotel, may be average in terms of service, rooms and breakfast, but it offers excellent location. Sitting on Dong Khoi Road, situated centrally in District 1, it is just a walking distance from most of the museums, major tourist sights, restaurants and shopping malls. Even the main post office is just a few minutes walk from the hotel. Right next door is the Parkson's Department store and so is the Saigon Tourist Info,

When we stayed there, we hardly used the taxi, as we could just walk to all the sight seeing spots, restaurants and shopping venues. The area also has a festive mood, especially at night and during the weekend!

Can you borrow the transformer? As a battery charger becomes 100v - 240v, will it be just usable? この英文でよいと思いますので、ホテルにメールされたら 確実です。回答はホテルよりすぐに来ますよ。 Asian Hotelのホームページにメルアドがあります。 楽しい旅になられますように!
