Having been stranded in Europe for 8 months and having Just completed a 2 week quarantine on arrival back into Vietnam... I left my quarantine Hotel in District 7 and checked into The Rex Hotel in District 1, this hotel is an old favorite of mine and is still a delightful and pleasant place to stay. The rooms are great, the staff are professional and take pride in what they do which relates into good customer care and service... its very quiet at the moment in Saigon due to no tourists coming in from far and wide...the city it self still has a heart beat and life is returning here and that is mainly due to the amazing job the Vietnam Government and the Vietnamese people have done to fend off the spread of COVID 19... It felt so good to be home!

Perfect service starting with transport from SGN airport. Check-in was wonderful - made us feel welcome. Lunch at Vertical Garden was delicious. Room was clean with all amenities. Location was central with easy access to excellent restaurants (Vietnam House within walking distance). Check-out was smooth. Limousine service to airport was punctual. A lot of history dating back to 1960's. We will definitely stay there again, although tempted to try some fancier hotels.

We only stayed here for one night on our way back to Copenhagen. We choose this hotel for its location and history. We booked a room with lounge access. Clean room but nothing extraordinary. The lounge was not what to be expected. Breakfast very crowded and not as expected. lots of choises but too busy. Hotel is in walking distance of many historical tourists sites, including City Hall, Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Museum of Revolution, Opera House and the Ben Thanh Market. Lots of restaurant in the area. The pool is very small and we did not use it . There is a great roof-top bar, with a view of the city. Staff friendly and helpful.

Recently, my wife and I, on a 30 day trip through SE Asia, had the pleasure of staying at the Rex Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). We picked this hotel for its location and history. The Rex was where the US government briefed the press every day during the Vietnam war. The Rex is located walking distance of many of the most desirable sites, including City Hall, Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Museum of Revolution, Opera House and the Ben Thanh Market. And, we would highly recommend that you walk along Nguyen Hue (directly out the front door) to the river. At night, this street fills with throngs of locals, enjoying the cooler temperatures and the company of friends/family. This boulevard appears to be where many young people gather to “date”, lounging on the back of their motorbikes. We think of it as HCMC’s equivalent of the “drive-in” movies of our youth! In addition, the Rex has a great roof-top bar, with expansive views of the city. Important Tip. Make sure that your room has a window and city view before booking. Their website’s room photos can be somewhat misleading. After our great experience, we would welcome another stay at the Rex!

Booked this hotel for my bday city break traveling from PhuQuoc island. Booked it based on the internet photographs and God we did had a “surprise” when we arrived there :-) A blast from the past, outdated hotel and in very bad need of upgrading. Good location if you want to walk about. Roof top terrace which we were so looking for to seeing the view was 10 years older than God! Food and drinks so overpriced for what it is. Breakfast was below average.
